Thinking of shooting this or the 100 grain TTSX out of the 260 rem....

whats feedback on the partition? velocity, performance?

My way of thinking, it's the gun that decides. I'd try a selection of suitable bullets and research best loads on Loaddata.com, reloading books and on line. The gun will tell you what it likes. And, if it's a bullet you can live with, then you and the gun are in agreement. That would be a consensus...

IMHO,

I am a big proponent of 100 grainers in the 260, and launch them at 3350 fps out of a 22 inch barrel.. and 3450 fps out of a 26 inch barrel...

I also say there are few bullets that don't work real well out of the 260...

that being said, the only one that I have been the most disappointed with was the 100 grain Partition... and this from a Nosler fan! 3 times, solid vital zone hits and no bang flop, like all the other ones have done..

so I'd look at the 100 TTSX... I am looking forward to trying it myself...

but I can also tell ya, that the 100 grain HP Sierra and the 100 grain SP Hornady work just fine.....as does the 100 grain Ballistic Tips...

My cousin bought a remington M7 .260 for his son when he was 8 years old. I worked up a load with 100 gr partitions doing 2800 fps, a real nice light recoil load for an 8 year old. 12 years later he's 6'3" and 220 lbs and still using those 100 gr partitions, although I stoke them to about 3100 fps now. He's taken probably 50 deer with them and they're devestating, never failing to give an exit hole. Great bullet in my opinion.

Seafire,,I know your real keen on 6.5mm bore size. Your comments above about the 100gr partition, what size animals were you hunting?? Just curious, as I have just worked up an accurate load with 100gr partitions for my 260 which Im hoping to use on red deer.

Be interested in your opinion of the 100gr ttsx once youve shot them on game....

I plan on trying 100gr Nosler BT on NC whitetails this fall. I get over 3100fps from my 6.5x55 and sub MOA accuracy.

The biggest I have taken, was a 175 lb blacktail deer... which are usually 100 lbs on average...

all the deer taken with the partition have died, but two went more than 50 yds after hit.. if that had been in thick brush, either could have been lost..

I am not saying the bullet is bad whatsoever, I just expected better performance out of it than the others, and didn't experience it 3 times...yet to counter that, Crow Hunter has seen 50 deer taken with no problems...

There is no real down side to them... I'd just buy others before hand...the 100 grain Hornady SP and the 100 Grain Sierra HP are both great bullets.. as is the 100 grain Ballistic tip..

with the last bullet I dropped a 125 lb black bear... but because of the size, I don't consider that a big accomplishment... and the only reason I pulled the trigger on it, as it decided to come at me.. at a very close distance...

If you can ever find them, a real good partition tho, is the 105 grain RN... Nosler makes them private label for Hirtenberger in Germany... at times you can find them at the Shooter's Pro Shop as factory seconds on overruns...

you wouldn't think there would be a big difference, but I have experienced just that...originally I bought 500 of them, for $40.00... so essentially a lifetime supply using them just for hunting..

I have both its amazing how much longer the 100 grain TTSX looks...looks like a 120 or 130 grain compared to the 100 grain partition.....i want to shoot the partition just to see how that little bullet will demolish deer! i want to see if it will exit when launched @ 3200 and pointed at a double shoulder shot at close range

I have a bunch of 100 grain partitions, loaded up 5 of each with 42-45 (1/2 gr increments)grains of H4350, best load was at 44.5 grains, but at 44 grains, I noticed scope was loose. Back to the beginning I guess, but velocities were all around 2900fps up to 43 grains.
Hope to use it on antelope and deer this fall.
The Encore barrel I have loves the 125 partitions so if I don't find a better shooting load with the 100's, I will stick with the 125's.
