Years ago at a gun show in Georgia I saw an original High Wall carbine. It was in .30/30. The butt stock resembled the ones on the lever action SRC and I believe the carbine like forarm had a barrel band. Overall length was about that of a 1894 so I am guessing 22 inch barrel. I passed on it since it was pretty well worn and the reciever had marks that suggested a screw driver had been used to extract stuck cartriges. the asking price was $400. I never saw one like it before or since. Were they rare? I am not sure why someone would have bought one in its day rather than an 1894 but it sure is interesting now and I would love to find one.

Very rare variation, valuable to a collector in any condition.

At the other end of the 1885 spectrum, I have a Highwall musket in .22 Short. It is NOT a Low wall and is all original, except for the fact that the sights are missing. When I get around to it, I will try to get it to talk again. Serialization makes it over 100 years old.
