Let's just have hunting season. It would give the rifle hunters a fair chance. In most states they can't keep the deer herd under control.
If you let everyone use guns during the season, then the season is shorter, as in about two weeks here. Let's just restrict everyone to knives and spears, and we could hunt year round and don't even need seasons.
