OP MarlinMark Campfire Regular Joined: Mar 2003 Posts: 1,421 Oregon	I need the overall length of a factory 7mm-08 cartridge.....loaded round...what is the length that I should start experimenting with my rifle to find the optimum lenght/of seating for accuaracy and safety? XXBob Campfire Regular X Joined: May 2005 Posts: 625 Eastern Sierra Calif	Hornady litemag loads are 2.73 OAL. Most magazines are 2.85 max. Check the throat on your rifle .020 to .030 off the lands works in my rifles. The OAL will vary depending on the point shape of the bullet you use. A Speer 130 or 145 will touch the lands in my rifle at 2.78 a 140 Sierra at 2.83. Good luck -Doc-
