According to the BBoGV, the Kodiac Co was in business from 1963-66.

I saw and handled a Kodiak rifle also in .30-06 at a local pawn shop several years ago. It looked to me like a typical 60's Mauser built on a Santa Barbara Mauser action.

The Kodiak Co. also produced the 1st .22 Magnum semi-auto rifle. I have seen only one of those. A buddy owned it, and it would not function reliably. Whether that was typical of the breed, I can't say.

In have a Kodiak 260 semi-auto in 22 MRF, made by Kodiak in North Haven, CT. The Kodiak 260 is very similar to the Colt Colteer semi-automatic rifle and Colteer Stage Coach semi-automatic carbine, both in 22 LR.

I have always wondered if Kodiak/Jefferson made the Colt Colteer and Colteer Stage Coach under contract from Colt, since the designs are so similar.

Your rifle is probably the Kodiak 158 Deluxe, but I don't recall ever seeing 1, so I can't be certain, but given the Colt connection, I'd wonder if a Mauser based Kodiak would be very similar in everything except the roll stamps to the comperable Mauser based Colt, the Colt Coltsman.

Neither Colt Colteers, nor Kodiak 260s, have been very common anywhere that I've been. I bought my Kodiak 260 as "parts" for $80+/- and combined it with 4 or 5 parts from GPC to get it to feed, fire, eject, and repeat the cycle.

Although there seem to be few Kodiak 260s out there, there are 2 different version that differ by the design of the cocking handle. The early design has the cocking handle on the left side of the barrel, just ahead of the receiver, while the later design has the cocking handle on the bolt and it appears to be exactly the same as the Colt Colteer.

I have a Colteer Stage Coach carbine, no serial # on it or the Kodiak 260.
