Probably been answered before but....

I know many have used them on Deer, but who has used them on shoulders and what distances? Would be out of a .22-250.

battue-I havent used the 62 TSX but have shot through shoulders with the 53 TSX on a number of occasions, both with the .22-250 and the .223, plus a couple with the .223AI
It worked every time, so I'm sure the 62 will work, in spades...and they werent always "dink" deer....stuck one through the shoulders of a buck my wife shot to prevent him from topping a knife-edged ridge...22-250



It stopped him...and was one of two 53 grainers I ever recovered, under the hide on the off side...looked like it came out of a Barnes ad...

Busted through shoulders of a whitetail and a few blacktails with one. Anywhere from 50 yards to 125 yards with the 223AI

I've used them on hogs; I've made an off shoulder, angling shot on a 220 plus pound hog.
Broke the top of the shoulder and exited. The shot was about a buck sixty with a 222 Mag..

The other one was a melon shot....but it exited.

Now to the original Q.

Hmm, lets see I've used 55 NBT's, 60 Horns, 63 Sierra's, 55 Horns, 60 Noz Solid base, 55 and 52 Noz Solid bases, 60 Horn sp and hp, 53 TSX's and perhaps a few more but that I can recall haven't used and or done it with a 62 TSX as of yet.

But, if I ever see the need I'm sure it'll do the job just fine as it's a bit heavier. This to me is kind of like will the 250 Noz or the 210 Noz work better on game kind of Q...grin

Load em up and fill up an ark or three I say.

I've shot a few whitetails and a few hogs with the 62TSX from a 223AI at 3,350fps. I was only able to catch one of them, as it went quartering across a big sow that was well over 200lbs. Everything I shot was inside of 150yds. I'd not be scared of shooting them at 22-250 velocities either....

Can't imagine the added speed of the '250 being anything but a good thing especially to insure it'll open well at longer ranges.

Gotta be some sort of good eating there JPro! Right?

I agree with you on the issue of speed. More is better with the TSX.

I didn't have use for that much pork but had no problem finding a taker for her. I showed my 5-year old daughter the photos after I got home from the hunt. She asked where the pig was and I told her I had given it away. She commented that I "must have found some Mexicans to take it". I told her that we only go that route with the boars.... (they are the only ones who will eat those nasty suckers)

I'm wondering how that new 62gr TTSX would do from a 16" AR-15? One would think that the poly tip would aid expansion at the lower velocities. I'm kinda scheming on a Bushmaster Carbon 15 as a youth rifle. 4-5lb weight, adjustable LOP, no recoil, and 1-9" twist. They are loud and the triggers likely need some work, but I could see it being user-friendly for a youngster...

I don't know about the tsx, but I think you need a bigger knife.

No deer yet.... But if these are any indication, they'll do fine on little ol deers....

Don't know what this one weighed, the scale topped out at 250# before we got him this high. 30ish yards again.

And stopped under the gristle on the off side shoulder.

I didn't open him up, but when I shook him it sounded like he was full of soup.

Yeah they are. The little one went about 10 yards, the big one never moved. I can't wait for deer season.

Shot whitetails from 50-250yd's with the 62TSX/223AI and still haven't been able to recover one yet. Most every one has went through shoulder/s.

Shot a deer last season with the .22-250AI 62gr TSX...30yds shoulder shot dear ran 40 yds no bullet recovered....
