Thinking of getting a fall away rest what do you think? Which ones are good and which ones are crap.
I have a Hoyt Vortect and shoot carbon arrows. I am using a Bodoole rest now and it is OK but the carbon on the metal launcher arms makes too much noise. I tried heat shrink tubing and tape ect on the arms but it wears out too quick.

I personally feel they are all crap for a hunting bow. I have used several and have not been impressed with them. If you snag them on brush or anything, it detunes them and changes the center shot on your bow, plus they stretch and the cable that pulls up the rest moves. Keeping them shooting accurately is a real pain in the arse. Get a whisker biscuit and be done with it. Flinch

I have been satisfied with my ripcord rest. Easy to get set up, and it has stayed tuned since purchase in December after approximately 3200 shots. I am getting good broadhead flight with two different fixed broadheads out to 40 yards, same impact as field points. It is quiet after I put some closed cell foam on the arrow shelf of the bow. Except where I have nicked my fletching with field points the helical twist vanes are still perfectly attached. So far so good.

Me, in your head JJ??? Who would have thought I competed in archery for years and made all the mistakes I see new hunters making now. I was really hung up on keeping up with technology and tried everything new gadget and bow that came down the pike. It didn't take me long to figure out what worked and didn't work. Most products are made to sell, not made to work. No other market is driven as much by gimicks as archery....well, maybe fishing is too Every archer wants an edge, since it is the most unforgiving and difficult type of hunting. So, gimicks are quickly swallowed up by new archers. The thought of all the trophy animals that have escaped me, due to crummy gimicks makes me ill sometimes. Fall away rests cost me some dandy animals, because they got dirty, didn't fall away during the shot and flipped the arrow off into la la land. Noisy two prong rests have cost me DEARLY as well. Thank heavens I learned....although the hard way Flinch

I tried the new wisker bisket and my fletching looks like a wash board. I had just refletched my arrows last fall. I used the 4 inch easton vanes ( they look like AAE or Pro Fletch to me). So I went to get some more arrows ( I needed some anyway) the store did not have the bare shafts so I had to buy complete arrows. They had soft vanes as well. The dealer showed me a vane that he says works with the bisket, it was call a Blazer vane. It was only 2" long but he said it would tune out to a broadhead just fine. He also showed me a 4 inch vane that did not strech as much off the shaft as the vane I bought glued to the shaft.
I could not bring myself to try 2" vanes with a broadhead or to buy fletched arrows and cut new vanes off. So here I am working with a Bo Doddle HP400 and still tring to figure out what to do about the bisket that I bought.
What type and lenght vanes do you guys shoot,
Oh by the way I will be using a Thunderhead 100 or a 3 blade Muzzy 100 for the broadhead.
Thanks

Get a Trophy Ridge Drop Zone and you won't be sorry. I like it much better than the Quicktune 4000, Trophy Taker and the MBG Mach 4 Trap Door drop away rests.

If you go with a W-Biscuit, go with one of the Quick Shot versions and try the 2 inch Blazer Vanes or Feathers............. don't even bother with the NAP quick spin vanes with that rest.

The newer/tougher B2 Wisker Biscuits are harder on vanes than the originals but the Biscuit will last much longer so you just have to decide if you would rather replace WB inserts or your vanes. If you're not a frequent shooter, this shouldn't be a problem.

The Drop Zone is awesome when set up correctly. I've been using one on my hunting bow since they first came out (about 3 years) and have never had any problems. I've also been selling a bunch of them in my shop as well..... the Wisker Biscuits sell very well also and is an improvement over TM hunter style rests but not as good as most drop aways that are designed for hunting (IMHO).

I have been shooting a biscuit for a couple of years and THOUSANDS of shots. My veins are fine. I don't understand the problems people claim to have with the rest. I think it is the best thing to come along in years....especially for a true archery hunter. I refletch my arrows every other year. The biscuit hasn't changed my fletching needs. Flinch
