Anyone shooting one of these? I just sold my old contender frame not too long ago, and want to pick up a G2 carbine kit real soon. I have a nice 21" SS, OTT 6.5 JDJ barrel that will of course be attached.

What are you all using to attach scopes? I currently have a weaver base and Burris rings, but I'm not a huge fan of the combination. I'm thinking either Leupold DD, or a nice set of QR rings to mount on the Weaver base, I haven't decided which though. Any thoughts?

Try the Warne/Maxima rings that T/C is using now if you stay with the Weaver base. Also, the TSOB base via SSK Industries is very rugged. If you like the duo-ring mount that T/C uses, a little lapping goes a long way and its very tough.

You'll like the G2, mehtinks. The trigger is not as good as on the old frames, but the frame is stronger and let's you cock/decock without breaking the action open every time.

Personally, I'd go with an old style frame and an Encore, but the G2's are nice for what they are. Also, you can order one color-case hardened by Turnbull, and they are SWEET to look at, if that trips your trigger.

Either way, the 6.5JDJ ought to perform right nice out of a G2.

I had been holding out waiting for them to release a stainless steel model, but I'm tired of waiting on them. I think I will just immedately send my to the hard chromer when I get it.

You know as soon as you order one, they'll come out with the SS version...

Well, in that case, just go ahead and order one of the color-case frames, that way you'll have a very nice set-up AND you can get the SS when it comes out without regret.

I have a Contender Carbine blue / synthetic in .22 Hornet that I am interested in selling, with Weaver mounts and rings. I would rate it at 92 % ( conservatively ).

Any idea what it might be worth?

I bought my son a G2 carbine setup for his birthday in March. .204 Ruger with the basic Leupold DD one piece base and a set of Redfield rings. Sweet shootin gun...I just got back last night from a prairie dog shoot ....three days and 600 rds.

Many a little dog met his match with that combo................

I have an older original Contender carbine but i like the G2 for "ease of use" and the factory stock is more suitable for scope mounting.

As a big fan of the Contender I am very dissapointed in the G2's trigger. After shooting slicked up Contenders for years I just couldn't hold on to my new G2 .204 Ruger. I sold it within a week to a friend who doesn't know the trigger sucks (big time) and he loves it. Why must they cheapen such a great thing?

I'm pretty excited today, as I just say that they will be releasing the G2 in stainless in 2006. Surely I can hold out until then!
