I examined several new Marlins at the gunshow yesterday and they were terrible. What bothered me most was the buttstock to receiver fit. In the harder kicking calibers it's really important. I wouldn't have bought any of the ones I saw. I'm gonna write them a letter.

Remington acquired Marlin in 2007. Some of the Marlins are going out the roof. Hate to ask, but do you think change of ownership has anything to do with the quality?

I'm not sure what's going on, but somebody needs to be fired. A current trend is to eliminate quality assurance because the assembler is supposed to be able to do it right. Needless to say it doesn't work anywhere.

I just saw some of the other threads on the same subject. Hopefully it will get better. I have always liked Marlin.

And while they are at it, maybe Marlin & Remington could stop trying to ram those ugly plywood laminated stocks down our throats. Plain straight grained walnut can't be that much more expensive. Jim

I like laminated stocks ok but they are so heavy. I'd rather have a fiberglass stock esp. on the stainless guns.
