I have heard of people tuning broadheads. How the hell do you tune a broadhead? Thanks CD

I just true the inserts, install the heads, and then spin the shafts and look for wobble at the point. Then I shoot every one to see if it hits in the right spot. Resharpen the edges and I'm good to go.

Some people line up the blades with their vanes in a certain way but I don't think that makes any difference.

You may also need to tune your bow FOR broadheads. Once you have checked all broadheads to see that they spin true, then shoot them alongside field points. They should impact almost identical, even out to 50 or 60 yards.

My experience has been that vane and broadhead alignment does not affect arrow flight at all. Your results may vary.

Aligning blades with vanes is an old wives tale. It's a crock and a waste of time. Please explain to me how you line up a two or four blade broadhead w/three vanes <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />.

The correct way has already been partialy explained. Weight of forward balance must be correct as well as arrow spine and they must pass a spin test.

From there it becomes a matter of tuning your rest in very slight increments (1/32") in order to get them to shoot with field points. Check out Eastons tuning guide!

you missed the point. the only reason to line the broad head up with the vanes is so all the broad heads are sitting the same when you shoot the arrow. if for instance you are shooting a two blade and the blades start out horizontal they will fly differently then the next one if it is setting verticle. or at some other angle. I love ya brother but I call BS. Even arrows fletched with very slight offset start spinning almost as soon as they come off the string...............there by blowing your theory out of the water.

Both the bow and arrow rest must be tuned properly. Has nothing to do with how your broadheads are lined up!

On a three blade, alignment doesn't seem to matter. other than I like mine all pointing about the same direction. I prefer one blade straight down. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Now on a two blade....I have seen the differece of direction. If you combine horizontal and vertial blade mounting, they some times fly different. Not so much with the new level center shot bows, but when you needed to have the nock high, I think it made a difference!
