I have been approched to get in on a duck lease with 6 other people (7 people total) for $1500 each. The lease is in between Nashville and Memphis, it is 70 acres. We would only be leasing the duck hunting rights. Nobody has hunted this before, so there is no history, it does have corn and it will hold water. What do you think is this too much money for an unknown? or would you jump in?

Pullit, $10,500.00 for a blind in a field that has never been hunted is, in my experience, waaay out of line. That's the kind of money one would pay for the ultimate suck hole. And, besides pulling all the ducks in a five county area, it would need quick, easy access, perfect water management, and a well-designed, well-built blind. Perhaps you could offer $3,500.00 (total) for this first year and, if it pans out, pay the big money for the next two years. Having learned some bitter lessons in the high-dollar duck lease business, I'd pass on this deal and let somebody else be the crash-test dummy. RS

Good luck---hope it pans out for you. I know down here weather and migration schedule are a lot more important than exactly where your lease is. As long as you've got water and feed, you'll have ducks if they're down in time for the season.

We should have water. We just bought (3) 22000 gallon pumps, and we sit in the Y of two rivers. Just wish we could pump in ducks. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
