Here you go guys, my 1895s. The fancy one is a Teddy Roosevelt 1909-2009 Safari Centennial I plan to take to Africa and replicare TR's African kills, specifically a buffalo.

The second is a standard model 95 I picked up at a good price the other day. THANK YOU CrShelton for the load tips! Just as you reported, the 52.3gr of VV 133 performed as avertised, in fact just a bit faster, at around 2285 fps, the faster speeds could be a result of different primer, Fed 210s vice CCI 250s (should I back it down?) on both rifles and both rifles printed exactly to POI with four different bullets, North Fork softs & solids, TSXs, Woodleighs and factory. I'm one happy camper. I've ordered a period correct Winchester pad for the standard model and I'm going to gear that one up for an American Bison hunt as well. I also plan to install a barrel band swivel on both eventually. Thanks again CR!

Lookin' goood, Jorge!

If both your rifles shoot as well as you say, I would leave your handload recipe right where it is. I agree that small velocity deviations can be expected with different primers, different temperatures when testing, whether you crimp or not, etc. so just shoot a lot and enjoy!

I dont what it is, but handling an old worn Winchester M1895
just makes you want to not put it down. I saw a beater in
.303 British a few years ago and it sat for along time before
it sold.

Thanks, guys. BTW Shelton, I do crimp. I had Lee build me a Lee factory crimp die and it works great. Jericho, Gander Mtn has one in 303 on their website for sale for 1500 bucks in 303. I almost bought it, but decided on a second 405. jorge

Oh jorge.....when you open that can of worms that holds double rifles, you're done for. I REALLY like my Sharps and your 1895's, but double rifles.....never should have bought my first. As bad as if not worse than bamboo fly rods.

Yep, already thinking about a companion in a smaller caliber, provided of course I still have a job. In contract negotiations as we speak frown
