Seems high to me, but I saw one on one of the auction sites a few days ago asking 800. IMO, a good used model with a dehorn job would be much more economical. Unless you are a collector type, then a man's gotta do what a man' gotta do. They get pretty cheap here around tax time... Best wishes, jack

just a suggestion, but you can pick up a used Marlin 336 fairly inexpensively. Send it off to Regan Nonneman to have the barrel and magazine cut back. Same results, less expensive, and you will have one of the best gunsmiths around doing the work. http://leveractions.com/

I stopped by our local Dick's Sporting Goods today to grab a box of Remington 200 gr Core-Lokt's for my 336C 35 Rem. And lo and behold. . . . .there is a brand new 336Y sitting in the rack! The tag said it came with a scope, not sure what kind, it wasn't mounted on it (he wants the same XS Ghost Ring Sights as my 336C has) for $399 plus tax. It's a Remington made carbine but I looked it over really well and it's good to go. I asked if they still did layaway, because I really wanted to buy it for my son, they don't do layaway anymore. Maybe I can see if Gander Mountain or Bass Pro Shop's can order one, price match it and allow me to put in on layaway. Their prices are A LOT higher then Dick's, but they do price matches. The best part about it was my son who will be 10 in Sept. wanted to get a Marlin 336 30-30 or 35 Rem. the same size as my 336C, which really is to big for him. He got to hold the 336Y for a few minutes. . . . .AND LOVES IT! I REALLY HOPE Marlin/Remington continues to make these so my wife and I can get him one for Christmas. We just don't have the funds right now. If not, I guess a used one with have to do. NYH1!

We just put a new Remington made 336Y on layaway Wednesday. We're getting it for our son for Christmas. It's $344.99 plus tax. Gander Mountain had it on their clearance table. It's $55 cheaper then the same one at Dicks Sporting Goods. We had to get it. . . . .my wife said so, who am I to argue!
