Dave,
Just wondering if you went to the site above. It has some pretty amazing flys.

Here is the Convertable fly. The site I found it on said this... This fly was developed for the one-fly competition on the Snake River near Jackson Wyoming, and was featured in the July 2001 issue of Fly Fisherman in the article "One Fly guy." It can be trimmed down from a cranefly, stonefly and hopper imitation, to a very effective fluttering caddis, Wulff-style mayfly, or spent spinner.

Here it is...

I have been interested in any new or cool patterns anyone has found or came up with.
Riley

Riley,

This link will take you to an article (and detailed picture) of a fly that was neither found or "came up" by me. I however, have thought it a cool pattern for a long time.

It may be used wet or dry: it can imitate a bait fish or a caddis...hows that for versatile, eh?

web page

Sorry to just provide a link...duty becons at 0630 hours...and it's already 0120 now!

You'll get the drift of this pattern that was originated just prior to World War ll. It was introduced to me by a friend that had worked for L.L.Bean in Freeport Maine for many years prior to coming to Alaska. It still has some popularity in the North East U.S.

best,
bhtr

I'm no purist, but a couple of those flies are lures, not flies, IMHO.I'm still sitting on the fence about tying foam flies.I know things have come a long way, material wise since I started tying, and I'm trying to climb on board, but I guess I'm a dyed in the blue traditional tyer.

You should try out some foam! It is easy to tie with and will float for ever. Extended body drys are great with foam!
