I am selling this for a friend who is a standup guy and meticulous with his equipment, but does not have a web presence.

This is an extremely clean safe queen. It has maybe two days in the field throughout its life. My friend bought it new for himself, and then kept it all these years thinking his son would want it. But the boy turned out to be 6'3", 225#, and is going with a bigger caliber. Since my buddy has a full custom in .257 Better Bob, this is redundant.

It is tang safety, M77, blued and walnut, chambered in .257 Roberts. As the photos show, this is long action gun. There are no significant handling marks in the wood. Has the original red pad, LOP is factory standard 13 1/2". The gun has been professionally glass bedded. Factory 22" barrel, and the metal work has a lovely deep bluing.

I don't know anything about accuracy; I assume it would be the typical inch-or-so sporter rifle.

The only condition deduct that I see is a tiny wear spot on the front of the floorplate where it pivots into the other part.

No wear on the muzzle.

$675 plus shipping, including a period Burris 3-9x scope. $600 plus shipping without scope, but with rings. Were I righthanded, this gun would be ending up with me at that price.

My brother had a 70's era tang safety M-77 Bob and it was scary accurate.

I have no specific information re accuracy, but I don't think my friend would have kept it for his son if it was a dog.

Actually, here is a comment from the owner regarding accuracy:

"Ive not fired the rifle for probably 15 years. And, at that time I was just getting into reloading, and not working extensively to produce a smallest groups load, but instead just looking for good hunting accuracy. My limited records show that a load of 44 gr. Of IMR 4350 with a 115 grain Nosler Partition bullet at OAL 2.922 regularly produced three-shot groups of approx. one inch at 100 yards. Thats the best I can provide, since it has been so long since Ive worked with that rifle."

That is very nice and the best gosh-darned cartridge ever!

If I had the spare coin sitting around I wouldn't have hesitated.

Good buy!

Anybody know if this has the heavier barrel like they put on their 25-06's?

Dunno why this is making my heart skip a beat... but it is. blush

Is there any brass to be thrown-in with the deal?
