ok for what it may be worth, I have some good loads for my 340 weatherby...the best I got so far, 4 shots into 1 inch, 100yds off sandbags. 215gr sierra gameking, pushed by 81.5gr of IMR 7828....hope this can help.

My pre 64 Winchester M/70 .338 Magnum shot Speer 275gr. RN over IMR4350 into nice tight groups and never failed to produce one shot kills on Mulies and Elk if I did my part.

RL-19 is THE powder. For 225TSX, I like 70-72 grains A little less with 250s.

My M77 Ruger likes TAC and 185 TTSXs. 338 Fed that is.

A Friend Says:
The 250 grain bullet w/ IMR 4831 and for the 210grain bullet use IMR 4350. Also Reloder 19 works well.
He shot the Ruger 77 in 338WM for years and it worked for him.
Good Hunting

In my A-bolt .338 win. I use Win. brass, RL 19 powder and Fed. 215 primers. For bullets I use 225gr. Barnes X and 225gr. Hornady SP. Rifle is accurate with above combos and performs well on game.

Looking for some .338 loads for a friends M77 Ruger, Thanks in advance. Deen. That's pretty easy (assuming it's a 338 win mag). My ruger m77 mkII's usually dote on 67-70 gr. IMR 4350 CCI 250 primer R-P brass 250 gr. Sierra gameking bullet
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Sorry, Yes .338 Win Mag. I have been helping a friend, Trying to get his M77 with a Leupold VXII 3x9x40 to shoot a decent group. The rifle was bedded and had a muzzle brake installed by a qualified gunsmith. I cleaned the barrel with Hoppes, Re torqued the bases, rings and action bolts. Reduced the trigger pull by installing a less stiff spring and checked for floating. Yesterday I shot Winchester cxp3 200Gr and grouping at 2.5-3" groups at 100 yds and that's way better than it was. I'm thinking of trying 180's, Any thoughts? Thank You, Deen.

My .338 WM is also a Ruger - the one with the laminated stock. The load I've settled on is 73.0 gr. of Rldr-22 and a 225 gr. Northfork. Bullet is seated 0.010" off the lands as measured to the ogive. Velocity is 2800 fps and it's a 1 MOA loading or close to it out to 300 yds. To work up this load, I started with 225 gr. Hornady's then followed Northfork's instructions from there. Easy!!! This load is a real killer on moose. Good luck. Bear in Fairbanks

Cool, if we are talking groups, this is how my rifles shoot with the load I mentioned previously: My one 338 I've got now shot this group, but it is generally a consistent 3/4 moa rifle......It is a ruger mkII and it has been bedded and the trigger has been worked on. It is one of my favorite rifles and my only elk rifle.....

72 gr of IMR-4350 or 73 gr of RL-22 under a 225 gr Hornady or Barnes. Pretty consistently about 5/8 inch at 100 yards from my Tikka.

Looking for some .338 loads for a friends M77 Ruger, Thanks in advance. Deen. I'm getting the best groups and velocities with a Nosler 225gr AB running 76gr's of RE19 in Rem brass and a Fed215 primer. The average velocity is 2890fps. (26" barrel.) This load prints in the .25MoA on a regular basis, when I do my part! Another good load is with a 250gr Partition running 73gr's of RE19 in Rem brass and Fed215 primer. The average velocity is 2780fps. (26" barrel.) This load will print into .75MoA regularly. Cheers.

Upon Mule Deer suggestion, I've been using 65gr R15 under either a 200gr BT or 210gr Partition. Maybe not quite the fastest load, but it works and kicks less.

74 gr Norma MRP (or RL-22) under 250 Nosler, 2750 FPS (MRP is temp stable & IME, load data interchanges with RL-22, though it is NOT the same powder) 74 gr RL-19 under 210 Nosler for 2950 FPS YMMV MM
