Picked up a Kimber MT 84L in 30-06 last week. Had my smith cut 7/8" off the barrel to make it 23" exactly. For me it balances best and looks right at that length. And, a new crown can't hurt. I tuned the trigger to 2.75lb's, emery'd the feedramp and underside rails and skim-bedded (acraglass gel) the forward receiver/lug area including under the 2" shank. I JB-Welded the scope rings to the receiver top per my custom, and lightly lapped the rings. Mounted a 6x36LR Leupold on top. With Uncle Mike Mtn Sling and four rounds down the whole rig weigh's 6lb's 9.1oz's. Elk season opens next week, and as I'm out of town every week, all week, this weekend is my only real time to work-out a load. Loaded up 180 NP's over 57.5 H4350 and crossed my fingers. Pretty typical of how it's shooting... found the broken arrowhead tip walking back from the 225 yard target... good hunting omen: That'll do. Speed is 2,788. Extraction indicates it's breathing easy. Could certainly go to 58.0 and over 2,800 fps but since today was the only day I'll be shooting I'm calling it good. I loaded 26 180 NP's and worked on shooting out to 500 yards with the 6x36LR. Zeroed at 225 yards, first dot is on at 300, second at 400 and top of post at 500 yards. I also shot 3 180 NAB's (rifle didn't like them at all... no surprise based on that bullet's history in the numerous 30's I've tried them in). Also, 3 180 NBT's... these will be something I visit in the future. Two went in one hole. The first shot was out, but I'm thinking it's a scope tracking issue as I'd clicked the scope down and right and the first shot was high and left... sort of indicated the crosshairs hadn't moved until after the first shot. 57.5 H4350 gave the NBT's 2,809 and extraction was easy. Rifle balances to near perfection. Recoil is no big deal, but the MT stock has always worked like it was made for me.

Nice lookin' potential..
Bridgers are looking good. Saw a stompin' bull a couple of weeks ago near there, going across the road in the early morning.. Also a nice mama moose near the creek.
I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...

I wouldn't think so.....Paul W. called dibs on his .308 a long time ago. I would think the 84L would make both the .308 and .300wsm superfluous (if any of us cared about "need" ). George

Contacted Paul, and since he's gone through some rather trying times, he decided to pass on the 308 Win... it's for sale... I think. I love that little rifle!

Looking at the picture of your muzzle, would you say it has 4 grooves. Looks to be 4, the web site states 6, I think. Just asking, no biggie.
You have a very nice rifle.
Bust another big ole Bull Elk.
Happy Hunting.

Very nice Brad. Wanted to fondle one before I ordered my mauser built. Since I couldn't find one, I went ahead with a custom mauser. Ah, me. No regrets, but I do wonder. E

Brad, is the 308 the same rifle the Bob tube came off? Marty, it is. Bought the un-shot 308 tube from Fosteology something like five years ago and had it screwed on.
