What are the differences between these two slugs? Are these good choices for Whitetail & Black bear? (12 ga. and/or 20 ga).

http://randywakeman.com/MoreWithTheSavage220F.htm If you want a tougher bullet (black bear) you might want to consider the Federal Barnes or the Winchester Partition Gold rounds.

My crew has found the Remington Accu-tip more accurate in several different slug guns. Most everyone in the group is shooting the 20 gauge.

Better accuracy with the ATs in both 12 and 20 for us. The AT has a brass jacket and holds up quite well on large bodied MW bucks. I haven't had success with the SSTs yet, but intend to give them one more go in a new FR 23" 870 bbl.

How would the Accutip hold up on bears?

I've been shooting the SST's for several years and they have been very accurate and lethal on deer.

I've been shooting the SST's for several years and they have been very accurate and lethal on deer. But would they work on a cow elk, which is bigger than the biggest mule deer? They're very accurate in my gun.

I would think with the bullet weight and velocity a 12 Ga pushes them at yes. Its the same bullet as a Thompson Center Shockwave and the Hornady ST muzzleloader bullet. You would probably get a pass through on Elk. I have not shot an Elk with them but would not hesitate to do so.

I have that gun. The accutips are the most accurate for me.
