I'm liking that sight a lot.

I have a couple - the field model mentioned above, and a Buckmark plus, which has some nice wood grips on it. Nice thing about Buckmarks is you can order a lot of different parts from Browning (sites, ribs, barrels, etc) and interchange on your pistol, if you want. Mine shoot really well. I've had 4 or 5 Ruger MKII's, as well, and rate them about the same for performance.

I handled several versions of each ( BM and Ruger ).
Both fit me well. I do like the egro's of the URX finger groove rubber grip on the BM the best. Also like the ease of going to after market barrels/sights/etc from TacSol, Williams and others.

I also looked into red dot sights - getting my carriage ahead of the proverbial horse here - and think I like the TruGlo version of open red dot the best.... they get good reviews.

I envision the total pkg to something like this:

OK, I finally made up my mind and brought her home.
This is a photo of what mine looks like - the Green-Lite version.
We'll head to the range right after work today and see what she'll do!

I've got a std. model that cost $179 at the time I bought it, around 1989/90 I think. It came with a very good trigger in a hard molded box with an extra magazine. Very reliable, good adjustable sights, accurate and easy to clean. It's the best 22 semiauto I've ever owned.

I have been pawing a gray one at a local shop.
Light but not overly so.

Let us know how it shoots.

Just added the Hi-viz fiber optic front sight to my URX. Damn, at dusk in the shadows it looks like it is being powered by batteries.

Do they still make the 10" heavy barreled gun? That's the only one I've ever been around.

When I shot the course for the safety cert for my CHL, a friend and I tied for 2nd place, him with a HK squeeze cocker 9mm and me with a S&W 629. The only person who beat us, and only by 1 shot, was an old man with a 10" barreled Buckmark. Grrr.

Generally a good gun. I thought the trigger was sort of mushy.

I have a buck mark pro target that I bought before I knew any thing about it. I lucked out on that draw and it is my favorite gun to shoot. I can keep up with alot of my friend with their 22 rifles with it. this is the best pic I could find of it online [Linked Image]

This things more fun than free beer!!

I got to the range late and was only able to run about 12 mag loads thru her before they shut things down.

Not a single flaw during the shoot.

The trigger does have a bit of take up, but I'm going to shoot it a lot before I do anything about it.

It's stupid accurate and easy to hit with... WAY easier than my S&W 63, my 4" woods bum carry gun.

It's gonna be a fun gun!

Congratulations on your new purchase. Ugly, stupid and accurate never looked so good.

I will be getting one of them in the near future.

Thanks for the report.

I got the older Buckmark camper model that has the 4" barrel and not the 5 1/2" that is available now. Only 22 pistol I own and have had it for years now. I've taken it on a lot of trips and the pistol is fairly 'weathered' looking now, but sure is accurate and has killed a bunch of spruce hen and other small game. Go-to bullet is the CCI Velocitor.

I have the Contour 5.5 and love it. I installed a Burris fast fire and did the sear spring flip. Trigger is much lighter. The gun runs great with few jams.

I'm going to rustle up several brands of ammo to see if it has a preference - CCI Velocitor will be among them.

I'll do the spring flip after I run 1K rounds or so thru it.
While I have it torn down I'll also install a trigger stop set screw.

I can hardly wait to try her out on steel plates!

corelokt,

Nice rig!

I bought the BM to use shooting local "Steel Challenge" type events.

I hope to glean advice on optics and tactics and go from there - grow with the sport, so to speak.

What red dot sight are you running?

A cheap, second hand one. Price was right though. I'd never used one other than a daisy one that was kinda a joke, but fun. This one is one of the 40-ish dollar ones new. Seems fine to me for my level of accuracy potential.
