I have two winchester model 69 22 cal rifles. One is as seen often. The other has a lighter thinner barrel, receiver sight (USA Pat 2014735), no rear sight dovetail, a slightly thinner stock and no provision for a safety of any type. The stock appears original and there is no gap in the wood at the right side for sliding safety. The bolt is identical/interchangeable with my other M69. Any comments on this variation?(especially lack of a safety mechanism)
BillR

Bill - I don't know Winchesters that well but my copy of "Gun Trader's Guide" shows two variations of the model 69. The first was made from 1935 - 1937 and cocked the bolt when the action was closed. The second was made from 1937-1963 and cocked the action when the bolt was opened. Check this out it may be what you are looking for.

Tom

Bill,

I agree with Plinker. It should look like the one on ActionArms #2521606. I think the 69 was a slow lock bolt and the safety was on the rear of the bolt. The 69A had the speed bolt and the safety at the bolt handle. Maybe your 69 bolt has been reworked? I'm no expert, just guessing.

Rick....
