What do you load?
Please post velocity if known.
Anyone try RL 17 yet?

I always ran H4350 with 210 Partitions.
No reason RL17 wouldn't work as well, as it and H4350 have a similar burn rate.
If you're looking for increased velocity with RL17, I doubt you'll find it in the 338 WM.

R19 and H4350 were my favs with the 338, and yeah I'd give R17 a go as well.

I liked H4350 and RL22 when I had mine.
Good Shooting!

I switched from the slower powders to Reloder 15 for loading 200-210 grain bullets in the .338 a number of years ago, and got noticeably finer accuracy and velocities right in the same area.
My .338 has a 22" barrel and I get 2950 or so out of 200's and just under 2900 with 210's.

73gr RL-19 F210 primers and either TSXs or NPs. 2930 fps and half MOA out of a 24" Custom Pre 64

Fotis, looking at Ramshot's data Big Game looks good too with lighter weight bullets.

My favorite load for the .338 WM is 73 gr/IMR 4350, Fed 215, WW cases, 210 grain Nosler Partition. Velocity is right at 2900 fps.
I've used this load for over 30 years, and keep coming back to it after trying others. H4350 doesn't quite have the accuracy in my current .338. I've yet to recover one of these bullets from deer or elk. On a bull elk about 25 years ago, I shot this bullet through both shoulders at about 150 yards, and it still fully penetrated. Hard to beat it.

Hard to beat it. This has been very much like my own experience with the .338 Win. I use 72.5 grains of this same powder with the 210 Nosler and the 200 grain Hornady. I get just under 2900fps with the Nosler and just over this velocity with the Hornady out of my 20.75" inch barrel. I've been hunting off and on with this rifle and these loads since 1975, and have killed several elk (two this past season) and the occasional deer and pronghorn with it. It works well. M Bell

This is a great combo - I shoot the same. a mid sixties amount of RL 15 get mine a touch under 3000fps. I switched from the slower powders to Reloder 15 for loading 200-210 grain bullets in the .338 a number of years ago, and got noticeably finer accuracy and velocities right in the same area.

75gr. of AA3100 with fed 215 primer works great with Nosler 210's in my rifle.

Landkiller,
Yeah, 3100 usually shoots very well with the 210's. I hope you have a powder stash, as 3100 has been discontinued.

JB: Isn't 3100 similar to IMR4831? Sort of...?
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

JB: Isn't 3100 similar to IMR4831? Sort of...? The two or three lots of AA3100 I have used have all been as slow as H4831 and maybe just bit slower. This has been based on chronograph readings and not just observing primer flatness, etc. I think when it was introduced, it was advertised as being comparable to IMR4831, but in my experience, I found this to not be the case. I think you were probably correct when you mentioned "sort of." M Bell

Yeah, that's been my experience as well. It's maybe even a tad slower than H4831 in some cartridge/bullet combos.

Another recommendation for RL15. I have been shooting 65.5gr for a couple of years now. Last time I checked it was doing mid 2900s fps. Definitely not a speed demon but plenty accurate.
