Barm: That Leupold VX-II 3-9x33 EFR would go along perfectly with your Browning Micro Rifle!
I have a number of Leupold EFR scopes and their versatility and dependability are HARD to improve upon.
I have a Leupold 6-18 variable scope on my Ruger #1-B in 22 Hornet - some of my friends think it is "more scope than is needed on a 22 Hornet" - but when I am sighting in on a Ground Squirrels head that is the only part of him visible above the grass line, I really appreciate the higher power.
Best of luck with the new rig.
Buy American!

Barm,

Yes, it is a discontinued item, no it does not have parallax adjustment.

Also discontinued, but a very good scope for the money (one resides on one of my .223 prairie dog guns) is the Weaver KT-15. It is parallax adjustable and the settings are repeatable.
There were a few on both Gunbroker and GunsAmerica auctions not long ago. They run between $150-$175 in excellent to NIB condition.

VarmintGuy,

I bought the Leupold VX-II 3-9x33 EFR. I was afraid to "over scope it" with higher magnification.

Thank you to all who posted with their set-ups and suggestions.

I've had 2 Hronets (a Win. Model 54 and a Model 43). The model 54 had a Lyman 48 peep sight and in a fit of dumbness, I sold it.

The Model 43 has a Weaver K-4 (old manufacture) and I've never had a problem. 4X seems to be enough for woodchucks at 150 yards or less. Smaller targets might be a different situation.

I'd run a 6x36 Leupold

barm, IMO, you made a good choice. No Hornet in the stable right now, but do have a Bee. It wears a 4X Weaver Micro Trac that has served me well. I have had the Leupold Ultralight 3-9 EFR on a .243 for 20 or more years and it has served me well. jack

Agreed.
The couple of hornets I've had have both worn 6x scopes, I never felt I needed more magnification.

Steelhead,

I ordered a 6x36 with LR duplex for one of my deer rifles and I am waiting for it to get here. I have always used variables, except one cheap 4x32 on a muzzleloader years ago. I have been reading Mule Deer's book and he made we want to try a fixed power.

djs,

My cousin has a Model 43 and he wants me to reload for it. I have heard internet rumor that the Model 43 will develop a headspace problem when shot too much or too hard. Have you ever had a problem with the headspace growing?
