I am going in March to northern Panama mostly apound Chiriqui province, around the towns of Boquette and David.
In the lonely planet book I see lots of references to trout being served in restaurants, leading me to suspect that some trout fly fishing might be available.
Has anyone experience with trout fishing in that region of Panama? I can use any info you might have, thank you.

I spent quite a bit of time in the area in early 1990 and was led to believe that there was trout fishing at the higher elevations. I wasn't focused on fishing at the time, but I've thought a lot about it since; I thought it was a beautiful region. Please let us know if you have any luck!

I understand that they have peacock bass. If so, you must give them a try.

The "lakes" and backwaters along the canal are great for peacock bass, which are fun to catch and great to eat.
