Going Moose hunting and want to try some loads this summer. I have a CZ 550 FS in a 9.3x62 with 20.5" barrel. May have to shoot out to 200 yards most times though it will be under 100 yards. I think I will try RL-15 because it is not sensitive to temperature changes and somewhere between 60 and 63 grains should put them where I want them. I would appreciate any help with what works for you. Thanks Buckfever1

Either will work fine and both are very accurate in a 9.3.
For absolute penetration, the TSX will do better. Its only equals are a Swift A-Frame and Nosler Partition. Boded core bullets are excellent but not quite as good as monometal designs when big bones may have to be broken at close range.
Many African PHs are now suggesting TSXs rather than solids for Cape Buffalo.
Max loads of 3031 also work very well is short barreled 9.3s due to its faster burn rate than powders normally suggested for the 9.3. It and 250 TSXs are what I use in my 18" Merkel and manage to equal published load ballistics. Also shoot 3 in less than 1" @ 100.
Good hunting !

Hey NSAQAM, Larry is very "IN", LOL
You also dishonor the 28th division by using the unit patch as an insult.

Varget will be even less sensitive to temperature changes and in the 9.3x62 has an almost identical burning rate. Also start around 59 grains and work up with new brass as you will be very near max at 62.

If you are going to be shooting 100-200 yards I would stick with a 286 projjie, but that is just me.

Accubond loaded to 2600/2650 mentioned on here before does a lot for the 62 at distance

Moose have really elastic hides that like to catch a soft bullet on the off side. I really like 2 holes on big game, and your guide will too! in the off chance of a poor shot, the TSX is going to break bone better, and give you a greater chance at a pass through (blood trail).

I had good luck last fall with one 250 grain Accubond at ~2400 fps out of a CZ550 FS. ~180m, through a shoulder and recovered under the hide on the far side.

Moose have a great capacity to retain their blood unless you can get them to help pump it out. The best blood trails originate from the nose and mouth on these critters, so souping the lungs is the ticket. Of course, any bullet works for those shots, so even an Interlock or PRVI bullet will do the trick nicely. Either of the bullets you propose are plenty.
