I woudl scope it like you would a 30-06 or a 338 Win Mag. I have a Leupold 4x33 on mine, but that's largely because I have the same scope on my 30-06's, 7-08's, etc.

I have three 9.3X62 rifles, and all are fine hunting outfits. An early Husqvarna has a Leupold M8-3X with duplex, and a Burris 3-9 with German #1?reticule in rings and sighted in as a backup scope. A pre-war Model 70 with a Les Bauska barrel has an M8-4X with duplex reticule. This is the one I have shot the most, and killed the most game with over the past twenty-five years or so. It appears to have been requisitioned by our son , and probably won't be coming back home. The FN Mauser used in the the Fall bear thread has a 2-7 with a No 4 reticule, and an M8-3X in rings and sighted in as a backup. All of them work satisfactorily to way beyond 300 meters. In fact, by holding a body height (14") over the pigs on the silhouette range, one can clean the rail with 286 gr round nose bullets at 2400 fps from off the bench. The point is that you don't need a lot of magnification to do quite good work with the cartridge to ranges far beyond what most game is shot at. Mule Deer's loads with spitzer bullets would reach out even farther. Ted

I put my FN together in 2000 with a 2.5-8X Leupold and have never looked back.

I am old school and a 9.3x62 just cries a straight-tubed scope on top.

My Ruger 9.3 wears an S&B 1-4 Classic with #2 post & crosshair flashdot reticle in the first focal plane.

How about a VX3 1.75-6X32 just to make your decision easier.
Honestly you might want to decide based on mounting ease and balance and feel.Just get somewhere you can try out different scopes and mounts on your list. Many times I have gone with a second choice scope because the mounting length or height allowed better cheek weld and head position with proper eye relief.

Going to get one of the GunBlast Ruger Hawkeye 9,3s and have sitting in a drawer: all nib...
Nikon Monarch African 1-4
Redfield Denver 2 3/4 P&CH
Leupold VXII 2-7X33 Matt
Two of these will be mounted and sighted in on the Hawkeye, probably the 2-7X and the 2 3/4X.
Does anyone have experience with the Nikon Monarch Africans? What do you think of them??

I would go 2.5-8x36 Leupold. Backup, 4x Leupold.

luv2safari, Mine currently wears a Nikon Monarch African 1-4 and I'm generally pleased with the scope. It seems clear and sharp to my old eyes and the reticle is very easy to see. The reticle does change color if the light is right, if that bothers you. To me there is a little bit of "tunnel effect" when looking through the scope but I have to look to see it. It weighs over 12 oz. and the ocular bell is quite large so the bolt on my CZ550 just touches it in Talley rings. But, the Hawkeye bolt will clear easily as my son has one in 375 Ruger and I can compare the two rifles.
"It is wise, though, to remember above all else: rifle, caliber, scope, and even bullets notwithstanding, the most important feature of successful big game hunting is to put that bullet in the correct place, the first time!" John Jobson

While I'd love a 2.5x 8 x 36 Leupold , I have in stock a 3.5x10 x 40 Leuplod VX3 CDS or a 3x9x40 bushnell elite. No additional expense. What say you? My FN is ready for coating, waiting for Charley Santoni to return my call.

I like Phil's idea of the 4X but this rifle also cries for one of the new 3X Leupolds.

Ya, I have one of the new 3x Leupolds on mine and it works very well. No problem shooting 1" groups with ease.

Nice looking rifle CKW! Thanks for your reply. I like this one I got a while back and might put it on an FN in 375 Wby in QDs as a second scope.

I went with a 2-7 but would probably go with a 2.5-8 if I had it to do over again. Terry
