If Sako changed the screw for the Optilocks - Good deal !!!!
A few year I called them about replacement screws and I was told they are $8 a piece before shipping. (holy goose crap batman!)
Even at a discount that's pretty steep.

A few pieces of info that I gathered from them.

1) Insert rings don't require as much torque as non-insert rings to ensure the scope doesn't move.
2) Non-insert rings can bend / twist a scope if you over torque them.

At the end of the day maybe they thought we'd all appreciate the design and would buy more screws? Don't know.

Either way - don't over torque your ring screws.

I think Sako would have been smarter Engineering wise (yep I'm a german) to offer replacement inserts and put in higher strength hardened screw heads.

I'll let you know what the replacement price is for getting screws via Berretta... Thanks for the info, I hadn't seen the new screws yet.

Update -

OK I've got a gunsmith to hot blue the screws after I turn them down, and I'm going to mass produce them for anybody who wants to get rid of thier soft old sako screws.

These are Hex key socket heads 3/32nd's seems to fit the best, that will take way more torque, blue only.

I'm going to offer them up at $25 bucks a set of 8, and I'll throw in an extra one in case someone buggers them up or simply looses it.

I'll have the first batch back from the gunsmith this week, and I've decided to let a few of the sako nuts here field test 'em. I'm going to ship a set to SamO for him to try first...
