Dennis, if I'm not mistaken, you might be able to help me with this.

I know your shooting some Pedersolis, in .45 Cal.

Slugged a " John Bodine" RB yesterday,

Bore .............. .450- ( pin gage, snug)

Groove........... .4562 ( 2 impact slugs)

Groove depth,
per above ......... .0031

Nice lookin' 6 groove, very good finish, but curious....
When did they go to that shallow a groove?
Is this just the " Bodine" spec?

others, of varying age have , up to now pinned / slugged, at a more traditional .450+, / .4585 to .4588"

Best Regards, GTC

Greg,
My Bodine & Quigley both slug .450/.458. Also a couple others around here with them get the same. In fact we can swap ammo back & forth and repeat the same accuracy in each rifle- none are older than about 3-4 yrs. if that would make a difference.
I've got a new #788 L R Sharps coming in a couple of weeks (my Quigley is too heavy to meet the international weight- had to strip all of the non-working metal off of it) & based on what I've seen in consistency, I'll bet that I'll get the same barrel measurements and close enough chamber that I won't have much- if any load development to do. Also, as you mentioned, the barrel finish almost looks lapped, so I expect it to shoot right out of the box.
May do some testing soon with a new (near 600gr.) Super Zeppelin bullet. I'll let you know how both work here in the near future. ....Dennis
