I recently purchased a Browning Buckmark Camper. What is the best way to mount a red dot or holographic sight? Do you remove the rear sight or do you have to replace the barrel? What type of red dot works well?

Thanks.

Hey Duck,

I recently bought a Buckmark Lite and went with a red dot reflex sight from Tru Glo.

I bought a rail from TacSol that has the rear sight included. $70 IIRC...
There's cheaper units w/o the rear sight if you want to go that way.
You remove the top rail from the BM and replace same with the new TS rail.
Sight that in as a back up in case the red dot ever fails.

The Tru Glo sight is not expensive, $50 - $75 depending on vendor.
It clamps to the rail. Sight in is easy.

It will show you just how much accuracy your leaving on the table with iron sights!

Here's some pic's...

The targets at 25 yards and shot right after I sighted in the new red dot.

That is very cool. So it just replaces the factory sight and screw holes line up? I had seen a couple of versions where you actually had to replace the barrel, but I like this idea.

Yup. Perfect fit and a nice product.

So far I like the TruGlo red dot sight a lot, too.
You get 4 reticle choices, in two color choices( red/green ).
With that there's 5 brightness settings to choose from.

Mounting was simple and by placing it between the rail mounting screws, you can remove the rail with sight intact for cleaning and not have to resight the optic.
