I ordered my Daniel Defense M$ V7 the other day and now need to find a good scope mount for it that will be solid. The scope I'm going to put on it for now is a Leupold 2.5-8. I have not had a chance to look at the Burris mount in person so looking for opinions.

It is kinda high if that matters to you. A friend has one with no complaints.
Leupold has a new extended rail that just came out, use your own rings on it. It looks like a Larue copy.

I looked at one and it seemed nice. It is made in China, however, FWIW

yep. I went with Nightforce rings on the heavy AR10 rifle upper, since I will seldom use anything but a big scope on that rifle.
LaRue makes some nice QD mounts, similar to GG&G, here in Texas.

Their QD LT-104 is the deal, I have a 6.5x20 in one, and a 1x4 in another, sighted in for the same gun, and swap them depending on where I am hunting with perfect return to zero. I also pop them off when I clean the gun. If you want to compare price and weight here is your huckleberry

I've got 4 LaRue mounts on guns right now and an extra one in the parts drawer with an Armalite. If you're gonna swap em out, then go LaRue but if not the Armalite or RR are better than any chinese peper for the same money or less.

I would have trouble believing the PEPR is heavy as it is solid aluminum. I bought one and then found out is was made in China. Burris is a CO company and thought it might be a local product. I like the height, the price and the utility but with the scope you mentioned, it would seem sacriledge to use a PEPR.
I have an Armalite and it is good but certainly Mil Spec in appearance.

Yeah I think it is a good choice if you like separate rings/base. Very solid but lightweight. They have a QD model too. I didn't need cantilever or I would still be using it.
You need to call it. I can't call it for you.

Not directed at anyone in particular ...but it always surprises me someone will spend a goodly sum of money on a rifle and scope but want to buy cheap mounts...
buy GG&G or Laue...made in the USA. Not cheap but good. And not supporting the Chinese economy.

heck, everyone knows that only a LaRue mount will work. Strange, that my PEPR mount does such a good job though.

I did not know that Burris had that mount made in China so it will not be an option for me. Armalite looks good and I also looked at the Leupold site and they have a Mark 2 IMS mount that looks good. If the tax man is kind to me it will be the LaRue

I've got an Armalite and a Rock River. I like the Armalite 'cause it sits slightly lower than the Rock River (doesn't look so strange with a 40mm objective. The Rock River is made high so that back-up iron sights will fit under them. Rock River was $60, Armalite was $80-$90. Here's a nice comparison of several one-piece mounts: http://www.maxicon.com/guns/optics/one_piece/ar15_onepiece_mounts.htm
