How long can this be forced on the citizenry of DC? Gun ownership 'very difficult' despite Supreme Court rulings In 2008, after hearing a case challenging the restrictive gun laws in Washington, D.C., the Supreme Court ordered local officials to make it possible for law-abiding citizens to own a gun. It was a landmark Second Amendment win for gun rights advocates, but there is growing disagreement about what's happened in the wake of that ruling from the nation's highest court She began the process in October 2011, and soon found there were plenty of unexpected expenses and delays. Miller had to purchase a gun in another state, and there is only one person licensed to transport it into D.C. -- at a cost of $125. There were also multiple visits to police headquarters, fingerprinting and ballistics tests. In addition, Miller had to complete training with a licensed firearms instructor. There are none in D.C. It ultimately took Miller nearly five months and almost $500, plus the cost of her gun. Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...ite-supreme-court-rulings/#ixzz1nGFdZENp

Criminals, governments and the feeble minded fear an armed citizenry. It may be a while.
We may know the time Ben Carson lied, but does anyone know the time Hillary Clinton told the truth?

There will always be those 'cities' that will obey the letter of the law, but never the spirit.

There will always be those 'cities' that will obey the letter of the law, but never the spirit. Like 37,000,000 in California? Gun laws there seem to be approaching DC's quickly. No one appears to do anything except complain a lot, or a few protests. "So goes California, so goes the nation" Scary thought right there.

While legislators continue to do there thing, they continue to get their asses handed to them in court. In 70% of this state a person can obtain a CCW, hardly DC. We do not even need instruction when applying for a CCW, no $125 fee. Ya, I'm not making a case that CA gun law is anywhere near conservative, but a far, far cry from DC or Chicago. http://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2011/07/13/more-applying-for-concealed-carry-permits/The Sacramento County Sheriffs Departments said they understand why residents are moving to arm themselves and are approving more permit applications to keep up with the demand. Of more than 1,000 people applying for a Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) permit this year, 90 to 95 percent have been approved.

Ya know, I didn't begin this to bash Calif. just stated the facts. As a state, Ca. leads the nation in gun law/restrictions with no end in sight. thirty-seven million take it, what does that tell you? That the whole damn nation might, if and when it comes right down to it. 2011 State Scorecards Are Released California continues to blaze legislative trails in saving lives, rising to a high of 81 points on the 2011 Brady State Scorecard rankings of state gun laws. Californias universal background check system, retention of purchase records, limiting handgun purchases to one a month, and an assault clip ban are just some of the laws that provide a road map to preventing gun violence.

The only gun law there should be is just one beside the Second Amendment if you don't have a criminal record it's a felony not to own one.
Wait maybe I'm wrong Treason.

We do not even need instruction when applying for a CCW, no $125 fee If your gonna argue about your own back yard, at least get the story straight. What are the costs? It varies from department to department but the average is about $500.00. Most of the costs are set by statute and as such are non refundable. This fee is for the initial permit. Renewals run about $250 every two years after the original permit is issued. http://www.californiaconcealedcarry.com/faq.html#f20

What part of "shall not be infringed" do the DC dictators NOT understand? Maybe they'll get their collective azzws handed to them on a platter. Should be sued, personally - NOT covered by .gov Mark

the Supreme Court ordered local officials to make it possible for law-abiding citizens to own a gun. .... All they've done is to define the degree of 'possible'... It's also possible one may be hit with a flaming meteor.. What needs to be done is for the good folks in DC (I'm sure there are a few) to just flagrantly ignore the law - 'overrun the system' ala Alinski.. Flood the courts - and I mean FLOOD the courts.. What are they gonna do - lock up a few million citizens??

The gun laws in Cali can't be any worse than the ones in New Jersey. One handgun a month, every time you want to buy a handgun you have to apply for a permit, costs like $60 (must be fingerprinted each time) and can take up to six months to get. The law says it must be completed in 30 days which is not very often. AR restrictions, Firearms ID card to purchase and carry rifles and shotguns(same time frame as above only good for life until revoked). As far as guns go it really sucks living in new Jersey.

Hopefully we will see a continuing number of court cases that prevent these types of restrictions.
NYC reduced the costs for its permit. The reduction was requested by Bloomberg. Why? because they feared a suit challenging the cost.
The collection of taxes which are not absolutely required, which do not beyond reasonable doubt contribute to public welfare, is only a species of legalized larceny. Under this Republic the rewards of industry belong to those who earn them. Coolidge

Of more than 1,000 people applying for a Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) permit this year, 90 to 95 percent have been approved. Is that correct? That just over 1,000 pepole IN THE ENTIRE STATE applied for a CCW? Or is that just in the Sacramento area?
