Thanks in advance.

Unless it's a 99 or some other rifle in a rare variation, you already have a superior cartridge in an uncommon rifle. So............
Hey NSAQAM, Larry is very "IN", LOL You also dishonor the 28th division by using the unit patch as an insult. As for the liar, welcher Bricktop, his day is fast approaching. Coward trolls won't accept PMs. How's the phantom "campfire" coming ?

I had a BLR 358 and it was an honest 1 1/2" gun with the 225 gr Partition over 48 grs of 4320. MV was 2400 fps IIRC. Since sold I now own a pretty nice custom and will be loading the 200 gr TTSX over TAC in a couple of weeks in prep for a critter trip to Africa in June.

BLR makes sense, as would a 99.

Anyone know how far out I can seat the bullet in a BLR magazine? I would imagine it's 2.8", but I'm not sure.

My friend's discreet carry bear defense gun that he took to Alaska last year in his Cessna 172... I found one of the last lightweight BLRs in .358 Winchester. He used a 250 grain Hornady RN but that is all I know.... Calls it the Makita KillzAll...... Bob

My friend just bought the exact same rifle here in Maine. As a woods cartridge I think it would be terrific.

I've the non takedown version of your rifle. It's a great little rifle except that the rear sight is pathetic IMO. I removed the iron sights and mounted a 3X Leupold in Talley LWs, much better. I've killed 7 or 8 WT deer with mine, always with 200 Hornady SP. When concerned with killing larger critters I've worked up loads with 225 SGK, 250 Hornady RN and Speer SP, but I started loading the 200 TTSX last summer and will probably stay with that for the future. I'd be tempted to try the 180 TTSX if I were to use it for deer again as the Hornady worked, but just barely on one larger buck.
I've used numerous powders, but TAC and H322 have shined in all weight bullets in my rifle.
Suck bullets simply suck.

I was hoping I was buying a T/D 358, but it wasn't. Oh well, what a great cartridge in an awesome rifle. Hard to beat a trusty, handy lever gun in a conventional chambering. Like a moth to a flame. LOL

I have 4 .350 Mags and one .358...a Ruger Frontier with a 16.5" barrel. So far I've only loaded the 220 Speer which is the same bullet I use in the .350s... The very large doe dropped after a 35 or so yard run... Bullet punched a hole though both lungs at 50 yards. Every time her feet hit the ground blood sprayed all over the snow... Velocity is only about 2300 fps as the barrel is so short...you could eat right up to the hole as they say... Bob

my late hunting partner used a 358 win BLR with a 4x leopold scope, for decades loaded with a speer 250 grain bullet over 44 grains of IMR 4064 and a 215 fed primer for elk hunts, he sighted in 3.5" high at 100 yards it was about dead on at 200 and about 10" low at 300 yards, he killed over a dozen elk in 30 years all but one was a one shot kill and that one was his fault not the rifles. he was so good with that BLR I eventually bought one, but Ive used mine mostly on white tail with excellent results using the same load I loaded for him.

My brother has a BLR '81 steel receiver that he has used to shoot numerous elk and moose. He mostly used the Win 200 silver tip, with no complaints, but the 225 Barnes x was good too. He made a new stock with a higher comb for his, and finds it more comfortable when shooting with a scope. The rifle functions perfectly and shoots good, but I do not personally like the handling. If yours fits you, I believe you will be a happy and successful hunter.
