I have a BAR Lightweight Mossy Oak Breakup Limited Edition 30-06 with a Leupold VXIII 1.75-6x32 on it and it will shoot three shots using Hornady factory 150gr Interbonds into 3/4" no problem.

My BAR Mk II in 30-06 shoots sub MOA with several factory loads, inlcuding the TBBC 165 I've used for the last 8 or 9 years. It's the only rifle I own that I don't reload for. Two of my hunting buddies use BARs, one in 30-06 and another in 300 WM. Both also sub MOA shooters. Mine's killed dozens of deer, has never malfunctioned and doesn't look Euro-trashy like the latest offerings.

I used IMR-4350 in my '06, and 165gr. Speer Hotcores, and it would shoot 1.5" groups without any voodoo or other nonsense. I did NOT use maximum loads, though, I kept them 2gr. UNDER max. I had a forgotten scope on it, can't recall what it was, now.

Good rifle, but heavier than I cared to pack around after awhile.

The ones I have loaded for were usually '06s fed IMR4350 with a slightly under book powder charge under a 150 grain bullet. Some folks recommend 4895. I do not recall what powder I used in the .338-06 but used mostly 210 Nosler and 200 grain Speer, but 4320 comes to mind. I have played with the forearm tightness, and do not see a noticeable difference. I have had pretty good luck with factory loads. jack

I really like the 338-06 !!I take it in your post you had a BAR converted into a 338-06.. Am I correct on that??? If so who did the work and how much did it cost to have that done???

Thanks, Alan ><>
