well, I hope for the OP's sake you're right, but the cut and pad completely destroys the value to a M70 collector.

It becomes a shooter....and a damn nice one...or a candidate for a replacement stock, with which it is worth maybe $900 in my estimation.

what kind of a sick dog would cut a beautiful stock like that to put a pad on a freaking .243 to begin with? sigh.

Ha finally found the answer I was looking for, my stock on the 06 is uncut ! 13 1/2" with the plastic buttplate. Cool beans. grin


JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

Picture with the pad still on. I have taken the pad off and put a plastic buttplate on which is 4 7/8" in heigth. That leaves the wood proud about an 1/8" at the bottom. [Linked Image]
