Just stretched this out today.

worked up 6 loads and 2 stood out

54.1 grs of 7828ssc and 54.7 grs of 7828ssc.

Fed 210 and the 139 scenar. Kissed em and found the pressure.

Stretched out the 54.7 on a gut feeling to 500 yards.

2970 fps.

What ever Roger does is working. He has the 6.5-06 thing down for sure.
When he finished this rifle he said to me. "now remember 1 moa is acceptable for a "hunting" rifle. I was a bit nervous after that... I think we was pullin' my leg.

1.75" vertical and 2.25 horizontal ( was shooting in a 12 mph wind)

That is a pretty cool rifle - sort of looks like a KS on steroids:) Congrats on a fine build.

It is an HS sporter stock. HS painted it.

Remmy 700 Blue printed
Rock #5 26" with a break

The bi-pod kills the weight thing. Pretty heavy bi-pod. It is actually the lightest rifle I own. hehe

I was pleasantly surprised how well it balances even with the long spout.

Cograts on the rifle! Mine is exactly like it...I found the accuacy nodes to be:
54.5 gr H4831SC for 140gr Nosler Accubonds
55.0 gr H4831SC for 140gr Sierra GameKings

I haven't tried 7828 or Scenars on this rifle, maybe I should.

Jason,

My first accuracy node with H4831 sc was with a lil bit less powder. I never tried more as I found the 7828 load.

I'm a big fan of H4831sc. Maybe I should revisit it with the 140 amax.

Who's Roger?... simply a guy who has the magic touch with the 6.5-06

Cocadori,

I found another accuracy node at 51.5 grains of H4831SC. When I decieded to see how far I could push it, the next node popped up at 54.5. I'm going to have to try a pound of 7828. I had pretty good luck with it in my 338 Lapua.

Roger knows his weapons. A local gun store turned me on to him here in SLC. I now own three rifles that he built:

6.5-06 M40/Tactical
6.5-06 Sporter (just like Cocadori's - color and all)
243Win Varminter

All three are tac drivers.

Jason,

I talked to Roger the other day and he mentioned you success with our "Alaskan" model 6.5-06. Althought he wasn't sure of your recipe.

My node with the H4831sc was 53.5. They are the holes in red here. Again the 139 scenars. This was shot with my "tactical" 6.5-06.

500 meters...

Mike,

I'm sure Jason feels that same way I do about Roger. However, he also probably doesn't want me talking too much about him. Ya see then it takes longer to get our rifles complete. laugh

If'in I get this .308 sold in the classifieds. The first phone call I make is to Roger. There isn't even any second thought at this point.

Funny you bring up ole Roger. He built my 6.5-06 back in the early 90's. I wrote an article on it for "The Varmint Hunter Magazine" back before it was a cool cartridge to own. I exclusively shot everything with the rifle for a couple of years. I killed my two biggest bucks ever with the rifle (29" and a 31"). I shot a great antelope, tons of coyotes, a 500+lb. hog and a bunch of white tail deer as well. It was AMAZINGLY accurate. It was my first semi-custom rifle built on a 700 action and a #5 Douglas. Roger isn't much for words, but he does know his 6.5-06's. laugh Flinch

My 3 "hammers" from Roger below. From the top 6.5-06 tactical, 6.5-06 Alaskan, 243 Varminter. The guys knows his stuff.

I'm going to try to get mine out to 500 yards this weekend. I'll post my results.

Next, I'm going to have him rebarel my 308 Remington 700P.
