1953 .243 Model 70 FWT with a $35 El Paso 2.5K Weaver, $7 Leupold bases and the $25 Weaver grand slam rings, has spoiled me rotten shooting 1" groups one after the other with the cheapest Federal ammo on Able Ammo (about $17 a box) If it only had a Kevlar plastic stock, match stainless steel barrel, jeweled bolt, engraved receiver, Swarovski illuminated scope and a one inch rubber recoil pad, then I would really have a rifle to be proud of.

VERY NICE rifle. Anyone would be proud to own that one. Make sure I'm first on the list when you decide it needs a new home
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

.243s are so boring....they'll bore a 6mm hole in just about anything that needs an extra hole!
Was Mike Armstrong. Got logged off; couldn't log back on. RE-registered my old call sign, Mesa. FNG. Again. Mike Armstrong

I was under the impression the 243 was into'd in '55.
I have a '58 Fwt in 243, nice little rifle. They seem a lot harder to find than 30-06's and 270's in Fwts.
What scope is on yours?
Looks like an older Weaver. Mine came with a Weaver V4.5 mounted.

Ya' got all you ever need IMO, even though I've heard that the .243 will bounce off deer. Very nice rig Sir.
