Tried this post in 'Gunsmithing' and didn't get much traffic, so thought I would try here.
Just wondering if anyone has rebore the CZ527 in .223 to 6mm X 45 (6mm-.223). Just to be clear, this cartridge is the same as the .223, just necked up to 6mm. Seems to be alot of variations out there, hence the clarification.
If done, who was the smith? What were the results? And how much did it cost to do so? Just looking for a handy, light carbine predator gun for on the go.

I'd honestly prefer a fast twist 223AI or 223 over a 6x45. Much better bullets. I know it ain't what you asked but I felt compelled.

Someone probably has over at saubier.com, 527 wildcats are pretty popular there. I punched mine to 223ai. No matter what you do, coal will be a factor with the mag.

Well, I have a varminter that came with a 1-12. I got a good buy on a takeoff 1-9 barrel and new stock. Since I was doing a barrel swap anyway I figured what the heck. I think it cost me around $125.

with the cost of reboring and given the poor quality i have seen in cz barrels i would recomend a new barrel. the ones i have had in my lathe were pretty crooked and kinda stringy steel when threading. just not varry machinable compaired to custom barrels or even factory rem or win. the rebore guys may have trouble getting a smoth cut. find a savage takoff barrel shorten it from the chamber end and have it threaded and chabered for the cz. i have done this for a few guys with great sucess.

Thanks Guys, Looks like it wouldn't be worth the money. If I wanted an AI,I'd be better off with another rifle.

Rainer, Thanks for the info. This is the best I've heard to date. After researching this further, it appears the best option would be to get the 7.62 x 39, sell the barrel, & rebarrel with a Savage 6mm PPC. Other than the shortness or the magazine & not being able to seat bullets deep & possible misfeeds, does anyone see any problems arising from this option?

Having a 527 punched out to an AI shouldn't be a problem. a friend of mine had his 527 hornet punched out to a k-hornet with great success, regularly shoots 1/2 to 1/4 MOA. Good luck.

I checked out a 527 carbine in 7.62x39 the other day. Cool little rifle.
