Kelley,

Man that was quite a post. You where able to insult just about everybody in just 62 words. Man what an EGO no wonder you stopped posting, you had to be afraid you'r damn head was going to explode, what with that much cranial swelling.

I doubt if anyone is really interested in what you think about that grooveless bullet, so you might as well keep that to yourself. But I am interested in how you did in the Creedmoor at Raton. Surly all of those rumors about your shooting bud shooting by himself where wrong. Wern't they?

Gunny

I've shot the grooveless bullet in both 40 and 45 cal. Maybe if the bribe is good enough I'll tell results

Okay, I bid 3 30-30 cases(used), a box of .422" Swaged FNCB tapered paper patch bullets-dead soft and 300 grains, and you get to pay shipping. Oh, I have a really good recipe for grouper if you have any in the freezer. How's that?

I am..........disturbed.

Gunny,

Yep, rumors are true . I was going to loose my temper and murder is still against the law , so I choose to vacate the area. Besides, I'm sure you got a ear full from a long distance call , you know the routine. And yes, my hat is a touch bigger. And no matter what you say I still think most posters are dumb asses and besides so do you . So what can I say

D-D,

Grouper huh! well, since the knuckle dragger-AKA-Gunny, isn't interested I'll have to share in private. That's what you get for insulting me, Gunny

Ron Long says they're pretty good, and I don't know if there would be a better assesment than that.

I knew Ron back in the early '70s in Denver, when he was just starting out making locks for muzzleloaders. Where is he and what is he up to these days? I remember that he was a helluva shot with a flintlock!

Hey Ranch13, who will make Campfire Ranger first? Were both getting close to 1000 posts!

Ron is in Cheyenne.
Paul we may have run into each other in former lives, I shot flintlock way back then as well. Also talk to Ron Carr pretty regular.
Hard to tell who'll make it first , guess I hadn't paid much attention to post count.

The name Ron Carr sounds familiar, but I can't place him. I shot with the muzzleloading group at the Aurora Gun Club from about 1973 to 1976. Great bunch of guys! It certainly was another life, at least for me, and I have fond memories of Colorado in those days. A lot of water has gone over the dam since then.

Ah, yes, Ron Longs barrels When wisdom on barrels was being previously espoused as to good, better, best, etc I noticed Ron Longs were not mentioned (because of honeryness or they didnt own one to bloviate over??)

So happens I own two of them. One is on an (original ;-) 1885 Winchester in .45-70. The other has the metal built-up by Mr. Long on a Ruger#3; has an Austrian single-set trigger, octagon barrel chambered to .40-65 RL, Axtell sights (about all that was available then). Among my bullet moulds are Ron Longs tapered (heavy) spitzer moulds in both .40 and .45.
Both rifles shoot VERY well, thank you!!

Ron makes some very nice stuff. Last I heard he was involved with the Ballard rifle in Montana, but as I understand it they fell-out and I don't know where he wound up. I believe it was in the last BPCR/Garbe publication where I saw him at a shoot

[Linked Image] Sorry, but this pix. does not do it 'justice'... (has h/q fiddle-back walnut and '85 buttplate)

Paul both Ron's ran together in the bp shooting circles in and around Denver.
I see there is a couple of Ron Long's rifles listed at Track of the Wolf, wish I were a rich man.

Yes, I too in my younger days (late '60's after Vietnam) shot MLs with Mr. Long at the ML range way out in the country north of Broomfield, Colo. I was by there the other day & it is now nearly solid homes around a golf course- "Time Flies"!

When I was but a lad growing up east of Cheyenne someone proslitized that someday it would just be one big megopolis from Cheyenne to Pueblo.
I thought they were plum loco, guess they may have been a little more right than I gave em credit for.

I remember shooting jackrabbits near where Stapleton International was built. I believe it was called Rattlesnake Flats. By the '70s it was all housing developments.
