I always try to find pressure but many are not comfortable running up that high.

Stone Cold,
I had a 7mm Rem Mag barreled with a match chamber set up so my rounds would "kiss" 168 gr. VLD's and still feed thru the mag.
Otherwise, if the COAL is longer than the mag, you have a single shot, or you use shorter rounds that don't kiss.

I always try to find pressure but many are not comfortable running up that high. I always find the top limits of pressure too, but my guns don't always like being pushed hard as far as accuracy goes. My 22-250AI only likes to be pushed hard though. My 243 likes to be backed off. Not sure why...I assume I need to try different powders.

Yup. Unless you want a single-shooter. Some guys go single-shooter for varmints.

DC, if you get some time send me some info on your .243 and I'll run it through QL for the powder suggestions. If at all interested PM me and I'll give you the info I'll need from you.

tex', The long list of things beyond your abilities and comprehension, would easily garner you a devoted chapter in the Guinness Book. Congratulations? The only TV I got to watch today, was footage I shot with a new videocamera,as I run it through it's paces in a cacophony of weather conditions, that'd have you dead bolting all doors and fastening your seatbelt on the couch,as you donned your helmet. I did gun a few stills ala 1D3/17-40,as Ma' Nature shifted gears and blew schit out. You're absolutely right. It would never occur to me to title a thread "...Goat [bleep]..." anyhow, you using a 77mm filter on the 17-40, or tweaking in PS?

I always try to find pressure but many are not comfortable running up that high. Well some are very comfortable... Anyone can "find it".No trick there..... Distinguishing between "enough" and "too much", is the hard part.
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

Why pack all that messy meat out of the bush when we can just go to the grocery store where meat is made? Hell,if they sold antlers I would save so much money I could afford to go Dolphin fishing. Maybe even a baby seal safari.

Well.... I kinda guess that may depend where you are at the time you let it go... And, if it's light or a heavy, green cloud, crop dusting type fart... DF

I have a new concept! Instead of
Kiss, find pressure, and rock on it's called
Load it, kill it, and eat it.
Works for me

I like to move up until I need a rubber mallet to lift the bolt. Then I back off 5%.

j/k Just back off a mallet stroke at a time until it'll open without the mallet and you're there... DF
