SO I'm looking at a 1953 375 H&H, was the front sight on these sweated on or otherwise?

I had s/n 239566 which had a integral forged ramp. It was made in 53, if that helps. Steve

Mine from 57 was sweated on. I say "was" because it is now gone. Either fell off or was removed, but shows no signs of heating to remove. Don't know how it came off. If you round up two of them please let me know. Heck, I'd even be in line for an entire barrel with sights.

They changed from integral to silver soldered(some like to call it sweated on) in about 1955 IIRC.
It's not hard to tell which one you have. The integral ones have a small radius where the sides of the ramp meet the barrel, the the soldered ones will show a distinct sharp corner, sometimes even a small gap where the solder didn't flow to the edge of the ramp.
