Nope - not necessary - some just put their actions in the stock and off they go. Many do bed - I do but out of the 6 McMillans I have/had all fit perfect out of the box with no fiddling needed. I have three and they are all bedded. I bought this one used, and it was bedded to an LVSF prior. So when I dropped my LVSF in, the bedding fit like a glove and she shoots so well the dogs just fall on the cargo rack. This guy was an experiment. Shot it both ways, and glass bedding helped significantly. Same experiment with this one. Bedding helped. All three are "custom drop in". Travis
