I still am not sure what they look like up close, but I blindly ordered an Edge with an Olive base and black and tan speckles. I hope to have it in a month or so.

At one time webbing was a option when ordering through here.

Rancho mentioned no paint would be cool so I went with no paint.

It looks gray from a couple feet away.

If you look closer it sorta resembles snakeskin.

I ended ordering OD green with black speckles in a Hunters edge in Rem Mtn Rifle Pattern. I hope it will look good with stainless. Thanks for your input. Tom

Here is a silly question...for the most part, are these stocks by McMillan "drop-in" operations or is there a bunch of fitting and bedding ect.?

That was going to be my next question,is it necessary to have my action bedded into a McMillan Hunters Edge Stock?

Nope - not necessary - some just put their actions in the stock and off they go. Many do bed - I do but out of the 6 McMillans I have/had all fit perfect out of the box with no fiddling needed.

It's not relevant to this question, but did you end up ordering the hunter's edge or mountain rifle pattern?

I have three and they are all bedded.

I bought this one used, and it was bedded to an LVSF prior. So when I dropped my LVSF in, the bedding fit like a glove and she shoots so well the dogs just fall on the cargo rack.

This guy was an experiment. Shot it both ways, and glass bedding helped significantly.

Same experiment with this one. Bedding helped.

All three are "custom drop in".
