I recently had my 30-30 336 rebored/rechambered to 356 Win.
The problem now is that the cartridge will not load into the loading gate. I never thought about the thicker base and larger metplat of the loaded 356 round.
Do I need to bevel the inside of the receiver at the front of the loading gate?? What about boring or thinning the mag tube?? Both?

JES rebore.
I didn't tell him to do anything with the load gate as I didn't think it would be a problem.

Why not just talk with your original gunsmith? He has a good reputation for converting to this cartidge and should either give you some suggestions or take it back and fix it.

I have a Marlin 30A that JES did a rebore/chamber to 356, it accepts and cycles my hand loads with Speer 220's and factory Winchester loads of 200grn Power Points just fine?, I don't know if he did any mods to the action?, but he did say that he would make sure it would cycle ok before he gave it back to me.
I would call and talk to Jesse.
