Well, here is an interesting project.... Picked up in trades a model 69A bolt action rifle that is functionally great, but has been poorly maintained externally and been partially re finished. Bore is perfect as best I cana tell, functions fine, wood looks GREAT, as in better than new so obviously a nicely done re finish, has original facvtory magazine, 5 round, sights etc are all in tact, exterior metal is not so great. Some pitting near the muzzle, obviously cold blued, but a solid gun and a real honest to Gosh Winchester with button mag release at the end of the day. $185.00 shipped to your FFL, trade for??? This is a later version which cocks on opening and DOES have grooved for scope receiver.

I also have a period Correct Steel tube, El PAso USA made Weaver V-7, 2.5-7x scope that is in like new condition. Such would be a great match on this rifle, throw me an offer if interested in the package. Her are some photo's:

PS Winchester model 88, post 64, that you see in the lower photo is a 243 and is PROBABLY going to elk Ivory in a trade. I can put you in line for it if the trade does not materilaize.

are u sure its not a pre 64... i have an 88 in 243 with the basket weave checkering that a 65....

You know, I am NOT sure. What is a good way to tell? I thoght if it had pressed checkering instead of cut, diamond type it is a post 64, but I could be wrong.

Any offers on the nice Winchester Bolt action rifle? Someone needs this, maybe for a kid or something.

Thanks! Looking more and more like this will be getting a barrel bob job and staying in the safe for use by the grandkids in the not too distant future. One last bump to see if anyone lese in campfire land wants this one.
