I was interesting in maybe getting a complete 22LR upper for my LAR-15 and was wondering if any shooters here had any experiences with them.

I've heard some good things about the Chiappa 22LR AR and was thinking about getting a complete upper. I guess it comes with a mags and anything else needed to install on a mil-spec AR-15.

Has anyone had any dealing with complete uppers and NOT conversion kits?

This.

For the same money a complete S&W leaves your real gun unsoiled by the thousands of rounds of dirty 22 lr ammo.

I have one of the conversion kits, but haven't tried it yet.

Isn't part of the issue a 5.56 barrel - especially a fast twist one - won't shoot .22 LR accurately?

5.56 barrel is .224" bore and the 22lr is .223" as I understand it. 22lr also needs a 1/16 twist.

Not a bad deal for emergency purposes and a dedicated 22lr upper can be very accurate and trouble free.

My dislike for 22lr's in my AR's is how dirty the ammo is. I don't need all that gunk dumped into my lower. Maybe because I don't shoot a hundred rounds or so at a time but I at least shoot 500 and 1000 rounds would not be out of the question. That leaves a lot of residue behind.

Now a $460 S&W can be run hard, mine outran my 10/22 between cleanings and was just as accurate. It just makes more sense to me but that's just my opinion.

I don't want to use a conversion kit. I think a complete upper would be more reliable.

I also don't want a 10/22. I want to be able to use my LAR-15 for .22 matches and Appleseed shoots while still using the same rifle set-up [Trigger, stock, safety, etc.].

Because I want to keep the same feeling as my LAR-15. I don't want to spend $500 on a 22LR and have a different gun "feel" to deal with.

How much "gunk" can get into the lower? I would figure the "gunk" would stay more in the chamber, bolt, feedramp area. At least that's where I notice it on my Marlin model 60 and 80.
