I was wanting to buy a Rem 700XCR11 in 375RUM but looking at the Remington website it appears that configuration is now discontinued,in fact,I cant see any model 700 that is chambered in 375RUM.

What happened,anyone know ?

Plenty 375rum on the online gun auctions, watch them to snatch a deal,,,they didnt sale very well, lots of recoil i imagine...8mm rem.magnum was not populer either but is a super good round as well...good luck and go for it!

Yeah, it seems to be fading away, the new Speer reloading manual doesn't even list it which I thought was mighty strange. It's an awesome cartridge but I imagine it's pretty awesome on both ends!

A lot of people swore by the 375 RUM (some swore at it because of recoil). The XCR II is really light, lighter than the Rem web page states. I bought an XCR II in 375 H&H last year and had it rechambered to 375 Weatherby just to scratch an itch. It doesn't give up much to the 375 RUM in velocity particularly in the XCRs 22" barrel and it can still shoot 375 H&H (actually I shot my brown bear with it using 375 H&H Remington Safari 300g Swift A-Frames) worked great!

i like mine a bunch. i bought it earlier this year. there should be some on the distributor's shelves for a while. the SPS was also made in .375 Ultra for a while.

but brass is also difficult to find right now. gonna have to buy another 500 when it becomes available

Well, it's kinda re-inventing the wheel. The 378 Wby is an awesome cartridge which the 375RUM duplicates and is an awful beast to shoot from what I hear and see. It's like asking someone if they want to be hit in the head with a pic axe handle or baseball bat, either one will hurt real bad. The 375 H&H gets it done and it's all most want to shoot to get that job done.
Like anything though, if you want it bad enough just build it.

The Rem XCR II is almost a pound lighter than advertised on the Remington web page. Mine weighs 6 1/2 lbs without scope, sling or ammo. Shooting 375 H&H through my XCR II in 375 Weatherby is sweet, recoil on factory 375 Weatherby loads is a bit sharp, don't think I'd want to shoot an XCR II in 375 RUM without a brake.

Been shooting mine for a little while now. Picked one up and put a b&c stock on it. Topped it with a zeiss. Great shooter, recoil is pretty stout. I have to concentrate to shoot it well. It definetly gets your attention with full house loads. Love the gun and round though. Its a shame rem isnt chambering any guns in it at the present time. Thanks.

I just looked at the website. The XCR II is chambered in both 375 H&H and Rum. Check your eyesight.

................Look to the right. Listed as discontinued.

New 375 RUM Remington rifles sales must going south. Quite a recoiling beast that most people simply cannot handle. Unless I`m mistaken Remington did not offer a brake on their 375 RUM rifle offerings.

The 375 H&H and 375 Ruger probably contributed somewhat to the sales decline of new Remy 375 RUMs.

Just a warning, the extractor on my XCR II in 375 H&H was too big right out of the box, it would barely chamber Remington Factory 375 H&H rounds. I also had one round in the first box that didn't fire due to the primer barely being indented. It was probably a one in a thousand incident, but I didn't have time to send it back to the factory. I had my gunsmith put on a Sako extractor, replace the firing pin with a heavier one and a significantly stiffer stainless firing pin spring, had the bolt welded on just because I'm paranoid, and fianlly I had it rechambered to 375 Weatherby just because I always wanted one. I bought it at Dick's Sporting Goods for $650 with tax, so have just under $1000 into it not counting scope. I trust it now, having more rounds through it and a brown bear to it's credit.

My XCR .375 Ultra is a puddy cat with a quality brake. With 260gr Accubonds on top of 102gr of IMR 7828 it is wicked accurate and can flat reach out there and pack a punch.

To bad they are discontinuing them, with the right bullet they can cleanly take anything on the planet.

Yes with a brake it should kick about like a 8 1/2 lb 300 Mag or less, definitely puddy cat territory ... Whenever I think my unbraked XCR II in 375 Weatherby recoil is a little sharp, I just put 5 rounds down range with the 500 Jeffery, and all of a sudden it feels kinda mild lol ...

It is about this economy. Big bores are not big sellers.

Remington is busy in the tacti(f/c)ool market because we all expect a civil war, so every body is buying their personal zombie gun, and it is a 223.

"Men" aren't what they used to be. A sissified society. Demanding ultralightweight rifles because they aren't strong/tough enough to carry 10-12 pounds, then snivel when the rifle kicks too hard.
