Anybody tried these new 180 hybrids out of a 280 or 280AI? If not anyone care to speculate about it? Powders possible speeds from a 23" pipe? It's a 9 twist and looks like that should work. Thanks.

I really wanted these bullet's to work in my 1-9" twist 7WSM Shilen barrel, they did not. the 168's did.
I will go a faster twist next time

Have not tried the hybrids yet, but my long range rifle shoots the 180 VLD's at 1/2 MOA out to 900 yards through a 9 twist Kreiger.

I run the 180 Bergers through a 7.2 twist 5R Obermeyer barrel. I use this rifle in the unknown distance tactical matches. It would be to heavy to hunt with because of the AMU contour barrel.

162 AMAX is the one you want bro! I'm gonna see(I've got a few hundred) but idk if I can reach lands and feed. Ive heard the new burgers would jump better? I'm not exactly tickled with how my chamber was cut. I might just have to stick with 140 abombs or 139 hornady shaped bullets? I don't guess everything I have has to be set up for ultra high bc stuff. Wouldn't suck though. We shall see.

Roll a 150 NBT and 7828 and go fill arks. Plenty of BC, bullets easy to work with and there isn't much of anything I wouldn't shoot with the combo. Just a thunk, in case you wish to make your life a bit easier... Dober

My uncles 240 does well with imr-4831 with 87vmax and 95nbt. Reckon that'll work with the 6/06 too?

K, for messing around the 162 would be my choice, and like Dober said the 150BT is a winner.
My 280 shoots the 162 great and I'm jumping 'em a good amount. You'll be fine. In fact, they didn't shoot well at all snugged up to the lands.
What the heck is a 6mm Dober?

Also have lots of .243 bullets and not been shootin 243 for whatever reason so.....thought I'd use up some stuff that's takin up room. Plus I'm really needing another rifle to shoot....laffin.

K-I use H4831 in this barrel with 85's and 95's so yeah I'd think that IMR4831 would do well.

Laffin......Jordan that the top to our island. It is a cuttin board/butcher block. My wife gives me funny looks when I do that but hey it's just a huge cuttin board far as I'm concerned. Shell crap this fall when she comes in and I got two deer worth of quarters layin on top of it....grin

Kaleb, didn't catch what action you are using, but it may be worth your while to look at the Wyatt Box magazines. I've used one before and I worked very well to accommodate longer cartridge length. Pretty cheap modification too.

Tanner...after selling off some stuff and tearing down a thing or two I'm down to a 280AI and 300 win for beeg guns.
Well and the 22-250AI of course.

wyattsoutdoor.com makes a box for that action... and you already have two really good elk rifles with those calibers.

Kaleb- What bullets you plan to run in the 6-06? The 105VLD would be fun or the 105 Amax.

By the time I shoot them up it'll be close to deer season so I'm gonna switch to 95gr nbt's cause I done got em. After that if I'm still enjoying the chambering I'll order up a 8 twist and shoot the 105 amax's I've got stashed. Well that's today's plan anyway. A month ago this gun was gonna be a 6.5-284...lol
