The news earlier this year was that Ruger was swamped with orders and temporarily stopped taking new orders from Distributors for a couple of months! It does not take a genius to figure out that all these orders were NOT for No.1 rifles! My guess is that No.1 production was slowed, or stopped, to get all the handgun, Hawkeye and American orders caught up. Maybe, maybe not. I have always thought that that was PR BS from Ruger. They just started a contest for store salesmen to earn points towards guns depending on what models they sell. They had a similar contest last year but this year they've upped the points per gun. Why would they need to do this if sales were so great?

For any increae in #1 production the demand for Ruger #1s must be larger than for
-- Ruger handguns whose sales dominate all other sales.
-- The new and vastly cheaper American Rifle with features never offered on the #1 at any price.
-- Ruger bolt guns from rimfires through ARs to dinosaurus DGRs that hold center stage in their catalogues, ads, and promos.
Tick, tick, tick....the clock is winding down.
