I bought a #1H in .375 about a month ago and love it. I see on Ruger's website that they list the 1S in .300 H&H. Well, I was straightening up the loading area and found a set of .300 dies I forgot I had and 200 assorted cases and loaded cartridges. I believe that this discovery of long forgotten stuff is a true sign that I should purchase a #1 in the Super .30.

30/40 Krag,
When you get serious and start looking, send me a PM. The 1S in .300 H&H were made in fairly limited numbers and not regularly found.

Uhhhh...even if they are part of their basic line-up now, does that mean that they were or are made in large numbers and are easily found?

I spend a good bit of time cruising local gun stores, the inet, and gun shows. And ecept for 1 0r 2 of the Boddingtom series 300 H&Hs, I have never seen an S in .300 H&H.

That's the bad news.

The good news is anyone can have an extra 30 06 1B punched out for a song. That's the way I got mine long before Ruger made any in but the original few. And no AH foreend!

The news earlier this year was that Ruger was swamped with orders and temporarily stopped taking new orders from Distributors for a couple of months! It does not take a genius to figure out that all these orders were NOT for No.1 rifles! My guess is that No.1 production was slowed, or stopped, to get all the handgun, Hawkeye and American orders caught up.
The only No.1's I have had from my Distributors this year have basically been "barrel cleanups" and "closeouts". Just because a No.1 is in the Catalog does not mean it was, or is getting produced in significant numbers.
As to the 1S in .300 H&H, the 1st run of less than 100 rifles, a Distributor Exclusive, was in the early '90's. This was a red pad model; some of these have sold for several thousand $$. Then, this configuration got made as the Boddington Kudu(250 rifles). Cabela's had one done for their 50th Anniversary in limited numbers; at least 100, probably not more than 250. Now, it is a cataloged model; at least one production run was made. I doubt there was more than one run, but I have not seen enough serial#'s to say for sure.
Only point I am trying to make is that are more of the Boddington and Cabela's versions out there than you will find of the standard catalog model.

Got mine through sports south, but just went and looked, they're
out now. Glad I got it when I did, it has fast become my favorite No.1
It is one of the standard models.

Had mine 3 days after I ordered it. But that was some time ago. With a little load development, it became a keeper.

I was going to reply that I didn't have any trouble finding one locally, and that it might be because the guys at the local shop are fond of the cartridge and go out of their way to find them, but I 'spose could be just luck... wink

I ordered one a year ago last winter..killed a nice antelope buck with it last Sept..a dandy rifle..as age creeps up, I plan to use it for my hunting rifle, when the 11 pound bolt actions become a bit too much...

I like mine, a Boddington, shot sub MOA from the first group, excellent trigger, and lucky to boot:

I recently aquired a No. 1s in 300 H&H and am finding it to be one of my favorite No.1's. In trying different loads, bullets, powders etc I've yet to find anything that did not at least shoot well. The recoil comes in a nice straight line back and easy to manage. The 220 gr bullets get a little snappy towards the top end but still not bad. The loads using 180 gr to 220 gr bullets do not vary more than +/- 1 inch on the vertical and very close on the horizontal . That's been with upper end loads at 100 yards. I'm sure I will find an exception but so far this is what I've found.

Very glad I finally got around to getting one. It was all Ingwe's fault though....

For some reason, I was thinking that an H&H chamber wouldn't 'clean up' in an '06. Glad to know I was wrong. If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you post a pic of how you had the barrel re-marked? Thanks!

KDK,

I can send you a pict via email but have never broken the code on picts here.

The lettering the smith chose is distinctively different than the factory Ruger markings. No chance of misrepresenting it as a rare factory gun anyway, as the serial # is also way out of range. Any way it is not for sale.

Regards,

I don't see anything wrong with the .222, I have a ways to go before the zebra stripes. He does have a nice BDL going that I could sure find room for.

He will challenge you to prove that. The Sublette county sheriff's department will officiate.

What's up, Larry? Or are you Roger/Duane/Karen today?

Does anyone have an accurate count of user names Larry has gone through on here? The last I knew it was 80+. Oldman1942, Boss_Lady, Rootmanslim, twister999, mtdorarider, etc.

I need to make me up some war stories.

Now, maybe I could be a fighter pilot who lost buddies in combat. Maybe I could be a SEAL, how about a Ranger. Might as well go for sniper and throw in some Camp Perry trophies... shocked

And I could post on the Fire under an exhausing list of names... crazy

I could find me an internet gun safe, maybe two or three from which I could post pictures.

I could really be somebody... laugh

You ACTUALLY believe anything said by NSAQAM ? (or his crew). They have been proven to be serial liars again and again.
-the big pinedale campfore
-bricktop's bet
-bricktop's trip to pinedale in February documented with photos from July
-the other idiots trip to pinedale complete with photos that were TWO years old
-the death threats
-the visits to the gun club lies
-the phone calls to friends to check Mr. Root out in NY, FL and WY
-the moving the girlfriend to pinedale story at which time that liar was
"gonna check him out"

I could go on for pages but why bother ?

Maybe, maybe not. I have always thought that that was PR BS from Ruger. They just started a contest for store salesmen to earn points towards guns depending on what models they sell. They had a similar contest last year but this year they've upped the points per gun. Why would they need to do this if sales were so great?

For any increae in #1 production the demand for Ruger #1s must be larger than for

-- Ruger handguns whose sales dominate all other sales.

-- The new and vastly cheaper American Rifle with features never offered on the #1 at any price.

-- Ruger bolt guns from rimfires through ARs to dinosaurus DGRs that hold center stage in their catalogues, ads, and promos.

Tick, tick, tick....the clock is winding down.
