About face Steve then start taking pictures. That would better suit this thread.

grin

heheh....HAJ has been here, and he's talking about the "ladies' parlor" which is across the center hall from the downstairs man room:

Now forward March and have a seat, Mister. That's the room for girly cryin' n stuff.

Heather longs for a return to that room...

the only movie that has ever dampened my eye was the ending of "The Green Berets", where Hamchuk was running from chopper to chopper looking for his Peter-san...

i have never watched lonesome dove... most western type movies bore me... maybe someday if i'm trapped indoors with absolutely nothing to do...

its not like your typical cowboy shoot em up western but more like looking through a window back in time. i read the novel before the movie was made and the movie stayed pretty true to it.

Lonesome Dove is a wonderful story to read, McMurtry's best. And I always watch the movie whenever I catch it on TV. One of the best westerns, ever. So well cast. Diane Lane--a real beauty.

It's a girly man cave now.....have to take down the heads and put up some pink curtains, I guess.

not sure about Lee and Jackson and the swords and muskets, though....might need a sex-change specialist decorator.

maybe just hang pink chiffon over the elk head

Lovely place, in any case smile

If you ever spec out a new house, without a woman-type helping, you start delving into all sorts of girly man issues, like the color and style of paint & trim, the cabinets, carpet, tile, etc. At one point I had to choose what fireplace option, and stood there for five minutes debating what to choose, with two cute interior decorators staring at me. After a bit I realized I was being indecisive, so I said the heck with it, and picked the one with the most stone.

But before anyone suggests I turn in my man card, know that I sepc'd two extra 220V outlets, in the oversized garage grin

Mine is still under construction, but I think I did a decent job on the color selection:

very nice....really like those cabinets.

outside the study and the gun room upstairs, I just kept my mouth shut except to say "yes, dear, whatever you say". do you like the dusty pink on the stairs? how gay does that sound?

Dang, I can see Scarlet and Rhett coming down those stairs. Looks great.

You are obviously a wise man. That "Yes,dear" "Oh, that's perfect" "You know I really like that.." can really keep the joy in your heart and smooth things right along.

Those words are as important as selective hearing. I use that "Hon' when you said that you must have been standing on the side of my bad ear and I misunderstood..." She talks about my bad hearing all the time, little does she know...

Diplomacy, it's all about deniability.

ummmm...a feared I'd have to object to pink, regardless of how light a shade it was smile

When I was house hunting in NC 9 years ago, the realtor & I walked through one place, owned by a single middle aged woman. The house inside and out had teal green, pastel blue & green, and some strong pink. The lady had not been able to sell it, and was offering an extra bonus to the realtor that sold it. My realtor told her to take the bonus money and repaint the place in neutral colors grin
