Okay guys, here's a place with a couple hundred pictures. Browse through and feel free to ask questions. Be sure to specify which picture your question is on. If my phone charge holds up I'll try to get answers for you tomorrow while everybody is there. Go to: www.savagefest.net/SavageFest_2012Enter Calhouns Pictures and browse through manually if you like, or hit the VCR-like button in the upper right to activate a slideshow.

A few questions on the Rs and RS... any chance you could get me the serial numbers, 2 or 3 point, caliber...especially the 303 with the two point checkering... oh and the RT...
Also, how about a story of the 30-30 RS? Does it letter as an RS? I was under the impression that the only lot of 30-30 Rs were order by Stoeger. Looks like the sign says NV state Police. Pics would be 0342
The K in 22HP with an HRBP needs a story for sure... GEDC0363
what is the gun above the R&D 308EG? 0373
holy crap... okay... I have to hear about the gun in 0376 with the tang sight built into the raised wood??? What is that deal all about??? Very cool!
okay and 0379 with the three leaf and unique engraving?
how about the engraved T in 0444?
is the top gun in 0480 an 1895 with an 1899 butt stock?
The pistol in 0504 is AMAZING!
Awesome stuff... some great 1899s/ 99s/ 22s/ and pistols! Man, i wish I was there!

Thanks for taking the time to post those images. Rory, I don't think I've seen that 1895 carbine in frame #204 before, have I?

Rory, I don't think I've seen that 1895 carbine in frame #204 before, have I? That one is cmhjohn's, he had it at the 2010 Ohio Fest.

A few questions on the Rs and RS... any chance you could get me the serial numbers, 2 or 3 point, caliber...especially the 303 with the two point checkering... oh and the RT... Yep, I'll try to remember to get some info on those. Also, how about a story of the 30-30 RS? Does it letter as an RS? I was under the impression that the only lot of 30-30 Rs were order by Stoeger. Looks like the sign says NV state Police. Pics would be 0342 It's actually NY State Police, the gun is the one that Murray had and talks about in his book. It is an R and not an RS, that's a typo. The K in 22HP with an HRBP needs a story for sure... GEDC0363 Good catch, not sure anybody will have an answer. It's Ralph's though, so I'll ask him. what is the gun above the R&D 308EG? 0373 That's another R&D 308EG, they were both attempts to redesign the buttstock to take the pressure on the side panels rather than on the wood behind the tang. You can see where the side panels meeting the receiver are curved. The attempts failed, by the way. There were 3 redesign attempts, these are 2 of the rifles that were made. holy crap... okay... I have to hear about the gun in 0376 with the tang sight built into the raised wood??? What is that deal all about??? Very cool! Rick says we talked about that one on the forum a couple years ago, might be worth finding the thread. Basically it's an attempt to do a builtin peep sight.. and it's definitely different! okay and 0379 with the three leaf and unique engraving? That's a very early 1899 that was bought or given to John A. Roberts, who is one of the original backers/owners of Savage. His name is engraved on the side. how about the engraved T in 0444?
is the top gun in 0480 an 1895 with an 1899 butt stock?
The pistol in 0504 is AMAZING!
Awesome stuff... some great 1899s/ 99s/ 22s/ and pistols! Man, i wish I was there! Engraved T is Steve's, don't know who did the work but it is nice. The rifle in 480 is an 1895 with a replaced buttstock - it was also a case colored receiver. The pistols is cmhjohn's (of course ). Engraver was named Willig who worked out of PA, and that's probably my favorite pistol of his. Not Tue's work, but truthfully it's a higher level of engraving than Savage did on any of the pistols.

Bruce, it definitely doesn't document how much time and work you put into this, everything from bear brats to the hall to tables to everything. Thank YOU and Steve very much for hosting us! PS: only halfway home.

Ditto's on the great pictures!! I regret not going and the pictures do ease the pain somewhat... This way I can slowly absorb the wealth of info contained therein. I'm sure if I was there I would have been overwhelmed ~ awesome!

"what is the gun above the R&D 308EG? 0373" http://www.savagefest.net/SavageFest_2012/index.php/Calhouns-Pictures/GEDC0373 Drew, This is another 308 R&D gun with a "slab side receiver" Ralph once before owned both of these guns. They are two of the three R&D slab sides. He had sold one of them to a friend but since the Ohio fest it made its way back to him. The wood on the sides of these guns is thicker because there is no step at the back of the receiver.

very nice. I especially liked the lawnmower.
It was nice to see some really beautiful examples of the clip-models. They were still trying time to time even in those late days of the 99...

The engraved "T" at Savage Fest 2012 I think I have the letter on it from Callahan. If who ever owns it and wants it let me know and I will send it to them. The letter I have references serial number 4308XX. Give me the last two digits and its yours. I saw this gun and was going to buy it but waited until I got information on from Callahan about the engraving. But it was sold the day before I receive the letter.

K,
Posting a WTB here is not totally off base, but you may fare better by placing a WTB in the Classified section down toward the bottom of the site page.

K, (Added) Posting a WTB here is not totally off base, but you may fare better by placing a WTB in the Classified section down toward the bottom of the site page. You also tagged your question on to an older post that will not get looked at as much as starting a new thread/posting. Maybe a better approach would be to first see if there are other shotguns that use the same barrels. There may be a Stevens or a Springfield or Sears brand that was actually the same. Here's a Stevens 335. Close? http://forums.gunboards.com/showthread.php?287442-WTS-T-Pre-Gun-Show-Sale

Start a new thread and give the first 4 digits at least of your rifle, Rick or one of the others will chime in.
