I can offer only a little information on the Winchester sight covers or hoods. As far as I know, Winchester had 3 different sight hoods for their pre-64 rifles/carbines; one for the rimfire models such as 69A and 75 sporter, a slightly larger hood for the model 94 carbines, and yet a third higher hood for the model 70's, 64's, 71's, 88's and 100's. The 94 carbine hoods were not as high as the model 70's. Original Winchester hoods had a slight bevel on each end as opposed to many repros offered now, which have only one end with a bevel or slant and the other end square. I am not aware of any change in hood heigths from pre war to post war, but this is only my opinion. Post 64 model 70's had a completely revamped hood style that is not similiar to a pre 64 hood. Picture top to bottom shows pre 64 model 70 size hood, rimfire, 94 carbine.
